14-15 June 2013 24th Annual Celebration - - City Park - Manhattan KS Juneteenth celebrates freedom and emphasizes the outstanding
achievements and educational contributions of African Americans. It is a weekend marked with Gospel pride, a glorious parade, guest
speakers, and loads of entertainment, great food, sporting activities, and the coming together of all people. This time we reflect on the
past while celebrating the future. Self-pride, self-improvement and self-worth is what we want to share with the world. Cities all over the
country celebrate this mark in history with people of all nationalities, religions and creeds joining together to acknowledge a time in
history that we are not too proud of, but it has shape the way we think and live today. When you understand someone’s history whether
good, bad or indifferent, you can come to understand one’s struggle, accept their differences and embrace their contributions to society.

28 June Military Spouse Scholarship Home Depot Deadline: Military Spouses: Are you looking to further your education? We're

Army Arts and Crafts Contest is an annual, juried competition of artwork for novice and accomplished artists. Entry submissions to the
Region and Department of Army (DA) level will be digital jpg images of the work submitted in a web based program at:
https://apps.imcom.army.mil/apptracmain (Note: All patrons must have an AKO account and password in order to access the site).
Manhattan Public Library, located at 629 Poyntz Ave in Manhattan This year they are doing a DIG into reading summer program for the
kids. You can keep track of your children's reading and they will earn prizes which include new books and gift certificates for ice cream.

Saturday, June 1st, 10:00-12:00. Come out with library loot, and looking and talking like a pirate. "Aaaaargh!" When you arrive, get a

program to earn prizes all summer long. Kids can watch a pirate puppet show and/or create pirate disguises in the auditorium. Don't
forget your library card (or sign up for one that day) so you can include a pile of books in your bag of treasures.

GREAT NEWS!! The Command Spouse Training Seminar is BACK! The goal is to hold this training quarterly and we are
being asked to encourage our Company Commander and 1SG spouses to attend. The next one is going to be 11 July.
Childcare is available and the RSVP date for that is COB 28 June to Becky Willis. Time and location for the training is ACS Building at
7264 Normandy from 0900-1600.
Command Leadership Spouse Seminar is designed to enhance the skills needed for the leadership roles these spouses frequently hold in the
FRG. Lessons are taught by senior leadership spouses and community leaders.

ASYMCA Family Camps in Junction City -ASYMCA has Family Camps available for 8 families for 8 weekends at the Rock Springs 4-H
Center 1168 K-157 HWY Junction City, KS 66441. This is completely free to those families that qualify for the program ( Please contact
Nancy to verify if your family qualifies, priority to Wounded* Families). The only thing the families have to provided is to bring their
own bedding (linens, sleeping bag, blanket , pillow) towels, and personal toiletries. If children are eight and older they will be able to
attend horse trail rides and need to bring appropriate closed toed shoes. Rock springs staff will lead all activities.
Arrival time is after 1600 on the first day and departures 13:00 on the last day. All meals and activities are included I would suggest
taking snacks with you to have them for yourself and the kids in between meal times.

off points in the Junction City Wal-Mart for donations from 1 June through 8 June from 9am to 9pm. Manhattan drop off point will be
Staples. Fort Riley location Main PX parking lot. Everyone can drop off at any one of these locations.

  • 8. ASYMCA Family Camps in Junction City -ASYMCA has Family Camps available for 8 families for 8 weekends at the Rock Springs 4-H Center 1168 K-157 HWY Junction City, KS 66441. This is completely free to those families that qualify for the program ( Please contact Nancy to verify if your family qualifies, priority to Wounded* Families). The only thing the families have to provided is to bring their own bedding (linens, sleeping bag, blanket , pillow) towels, and personal toiletries. If children are eight and older they will be able to attend horse trail rides and need to bring appropriate closed toed shoes. Rock springs staff will lead all activities. Arrival time is after 1600 on the first day and departures 13:00 on the last day.
