Target Audience
The age range for my short documentary is going to be 16-24-year olds. This is because people
within this age range are people who will remember the show Gladiators from their childhood. It is
also people within this age range that may be trying to become famous or might aspire to be and
this short documentary might help them decide if that’s what they want to achieve. My short
documentary is going to appeal to both genders, this is because my documentary's subject can
appeal to both genders because fame can appeal to anybody, and there is nothing in the short
documentary is that is gender orientated. The Psychographic of my short documentary is going to
be Socially conscious type A, needs driven. This is because is going to appeal to people who want
to achieve something and someone who believes in themselves and that they can become
famous. It is going to appeal to people who live in the UK, this is because Gladiators was aired in
the UK and people in other countries likely don’t know what the show was and have never heard
about it. It is also going to be for ABC1 and C2DE. This is because gladiators was free to watch
and this short documentary is going to be free to watch online which means people in all social
classes are going to be able to have access to this and also understand what the short
documentary is about because they are probably going to have seen it. The secondary audience
to my short documentary might be older people 40-50. This is because they had just turned into
adults when the original Gladiators first aired, and they are the people that will remember
Gladiators the most because it was on TV when there were not many channels. They may watch
the documentary because he was on Gladiators and they remember him, and they want to hear
things about when he was on the show and to see what he looks like now.
Rationale:
Throughout the past year I have made many different products that are media related, I have
made a music video, a trailer for an event, an audio drama, a magazine, a video game and a
wedding video. Throughout these projects I feel like I have learned about how important lighting
and sound in a video and how much it impacts the look and feel of the video. I will utilise this
knowledge by putting a lot of effort and focus onto my lighting and sound so that I can get the most
professional looking light and sound as possible. My last similar production was a wedding video
that I did at the start of the summer. I will use the knowledge I learnt about how handheld shots
and still shots on a tripod change the feel and pace of the video.
Project Concept:
I am going to make a short documentary about the worst, the best and the most interesting parts
about being famous. I am going to be interviewing my dad because he was in TV in the mid to late
90s on a TV show called Gladiators. It is going to show people what it is really like to be famous
and what it is like being on TV. It is also going to show thing about being famous that you wouldn’t
expect, and you didn’t know. To help with my short documentary I am going to research different
things about the show gladiators so that I can add text in afterwards for the start or the end of the
documentary to give some context about gladiators if he does not speak about it. I am also going
to be finding clips of him being on gladiators and different things on the show that he will be talking
about. I am also going to be finding clips of him being on TV interviews now and showing clips of
things that he does now. I will also have to research the figures of how big Gladiators was and
what years it was on TV so I know how widespread the audience of my documentary will be and
how old they will mostly be.

How will the project be evaluated and reviewed:
To evaluate my work, I am going to look back at my work and look at what I did the best and
continue using and building on those techniques in my future work. I am also going to look at what
I did the worst and see how I can fix it and how I can make it one of the best features of my work
and I will implement this into my future work. I am also going to ask other people the worst and
best parts of my work and get their opinions on it.
