Bringing It All Together In the Bailey Scholars Program Good Teachers “are able to weave a complex web of connections among themselves, their subjects, and their students, so that students can learn to weave a world for themselves (Parker J. Palmer, 1998). Erin—My reflective process focused on individual events and classes during my four years at Michigan State University. These experiences shifted my world focus and had impacts upon my future. My reflection focused on whole person development , including events from all aspects of my life. The Bailey Scholars Program allowed engagement with people and connected learning , which made a tremendous impact upon my learning and future. Monica—My web was my opportunity to reflect upon the learning and connections that are integral and present in all aspects of my life. Through this visual display I was able to explore my authentic learning experiences not only in the classroom but also in my co-curricula's. This new and creative way to illustrate my learning has allowed me the flexibility to show how my identity and whole-person development has grown and developed in ways I never thought possible. ,[object Object],[object Object],[object Object],[object Object],[object Object],[object Object],[object Object],[object Object],[object Object],[object Object],[object Object],[object Object],Scott—The Liberty Hyde Bailey Scholars Program is where my learning journey became a reality. Bailey has challenged what I value, what my worldview is, how I learn and who I am. This is a place where I can talk and explore my interests and passions outside of my degree. This experience taught me a lot about how I was leading my life and what direction I should me heading. With the uniqueness and respectful environment that Bailey fosters, opportunities are only limited by one’s imagination.
