1. The football fever has gripped the world with the unveiling of FIFA World Cup 2022 and fans
gearing up to watch the stellar performance of their heroes. Every four years the best football
teams across the globe chronicle history on the field, and what makes them best, is probably
known to all. It is nothing but great teamwork and the right attitude. Louis Leo Holtz, former
American football player, coach and analyst says, “Ability is what you're capable of doing.
Motivation determines what you do. Attitude determines how well you do it.” The strength of
the team is each player, and each player draws his strength from the team. When we work in
teams to implement critical projects in the organisation, let’s strategize like the game of
football. We should play only to win, and should we lose, how we play next is critical!
The second quarter results ending 30th September 2022 as per the accounts adopted were
approved by the Board of Directors in its meeting held at Kolkata on 3rd November 2022. The
total income for the second quarter decreased by 13.96% and stood at Rs. 561.91 crores as
compared to the previous quarter. The Profit Before Tax (PBT) for the quarter ending 30th
September 2022 stood at Rs. 36.80 crores as against Rs. 52.72 crores for the previous
quarter ending 30th June 2022. The Net Profit After Tax (PAT) clocked during the quarter was
Rs. 26.11 crores as compared to Rs. 41.54 crores in the previous quarter. The total income,
PBT and PAT for the six months period ended 30th September 2022 stood at Rs. 1214.96
crores, Rs. 89.52 crores and Rs. 67.65 crores respectively whereas the numbers for the
corresponding period of the previous year were Rs. 990.35 crores, Rs. 60.80 crores and Rs.
45.43 crores respectively.
The Vigilance Awareness Week (VAW) was successfully observed based on the theme “भ्रष्टाचार
मुक्त भारत – विकसित भारत / Corruption free India for a developed Nation from 31st October to 6th
November 2022. The Vigilance Department organised various events for employees pan India
along with outreach programs in schools / colleges. We will cover all the details in the January
2023 issue of Balmer Lawrie Organisational Gazette [BLOG], our quarterly house journal.

EDITORIAL
2. Vigilance Awareness Week was observed from 31st October to 6th November 2022 on the theme
“Corruption free India for a developed Nation” at all the units and establishments of Balmer Lawrie. The
observance of the week commenced with employees taking the vigilance pledge. A host of internal
competitions like quiz, drawing, essay and slogan writing were organised for employees throughout the
week to highlight the importance of integrity and iniquities of corruption. An interactive session for
vendors, customers and contractors of Balmer Lawrie was also organised. Outreach programs were
conducted in schools and colleges across all the regions to make the youth more cautious and vigilant.
Balmer Lawrie successfully executed the three-month Preventive Vigilance cum internal housekeeping
activities as mandated by CVC. To identify and implement systematic improvements within the
organisation and to enhance the efficiency of the Vigilance system, technology was leveraged to launch
a new Online Complaint Portal. The Online Complaint Portal was launched by Mr. Adika Ratna Sekhar
C&MD, Balmer Lawrie and Mr. Anant Kumar Singh, IPS, Chief Vigilance Officer on 2nd November during
the Vigilance Awareness Week. An awareness Walk on Corruption Free India for a Developed Nation
was organised on 6th November at Kolkata. The walk was led by the Directors of the Company.
Employees participated in large numbers. Similar walks were also organised in all the four regions.
Rashtriya Ekta Divas or National Unity Day was observed on 31st October 2022 to mark the birth
anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. On this occasion a pledge was administered in all the units /
establishments of the Company.

3. Balmer Lawrie won the ‘Best Manufacturer – Chemicals’ Award in the Manufacturing Sector category of
the HMTV Business Excellence Awards 2022. Mr. Adika Ratna Sekhar, Chairman & Managing Director
received the award from Ms. Tamilisai Soundararajan, Governor of Telangana at a grand function held
in HICC Novotel Hotel, Hyderabad on 29th October 2022.
Mr. Adika Ratna Sekhar, Chairman & Managing Director was conferred the Pride of India Award given
away by South Asian Institute for Advanced Research and Development (SAIARD) at a function held in
Kolkata on 16th October 2022. Mr. M S Rao, Head [Administration] received the award on behalf of
C&MD.
4. The Long Term Settlement of Establishments in the Sothern Region was signed at Manali, Chennai on
11th October 2022.
Corporate HR Department received the ‘BML Munjal Awards 16th
Edition: Certificate of Appreciation’ for their efforts in the field of
Learning & Development and their role in driving Business
Excellence. The competition was very tough this year with leading
organizations across various industries having participated. Balmer
Lawrie’s L&D initiatives got a special mention from the panel.
The annual meet for SBU: Industrial Packaging was held from 6th to 9th October at Andaman.
5. The Integrated Management System (IMS) audit was held at Industrial Packaging, Silvassa in the
month of October 2022.
Balmer Lawrie participated in the first Start-up Investors’ Summit 2022 organised by Numaligarh
Refinery Limited (NRL) and Oil India Limited (OIL) on 4th November at Guwahati. The objective of the
Meet was to attract investors for start-ups from the North-East, which are supported by Oil PSUs. Mr.
Adhip Nath Palchaudhuri, Director [Service Businesses] was invited as one of the key dignitaries of the
Summit along with Mr. Abhiroop Dutta, Nodal Officer for Balmer Lawrie Start-up program. Balmer
Lawrie showcased its Start-up journey and initiatives taken to foster the growth of entrepreneurship
and contribution towards the “Start Up India Initiative” of Government of India, through a wonderful
Audio Visual developed in-house. One of the funded Start-ups of Balmer Lawrie – RC Hobby Tech was
also invited to explore the opportunities of investment and potential customers.
Ayudh puja was organised during Dusshera at Manali, Chennai in October 2022.
6. Industrial Packaging, Navi Mumbai organised Diwali Puja in the factory premises in October 2022.
As part of the special Swachhata Campaign 2.0 initiated by the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas,
Balmer Lawrie’s Northern Region Office at Okhla organised the following activities:
• General cleaning of workplace by users
• Cleaning of corridor, lobby, reception area
• Files / Record keeping - spread over in workplace and departments
• General awareness on benefits of Swachhata regularly through PA System and workshop in the
training room
• Outside of office Swachhata drive by cleaning the surroundings

Personnel Information – October 2022
Mr. Lokendra Singh Rathore joined Industrial Packaging - Chittoor
as Manager [Manufacturing] on 27th October 2022.
Professionally, Lokendra wanted to gain experience across various
industries and different functions, and so started his career as a project
trainee, then went on to handling plant maintenance and then the overall
production of the plant. Starting with cement plant erection, commissioning
and maintenance, he gained experience in production and then got
promoted to handling a complete production unit. He has been continuously
learning and reading to improve his skills. He believes in teamwork, is
result oriented and looks up to getting right direction that helps him to
achieve proper results in his professional area. He is continuously working
on improving himself by gaining knowledge that also helps him connect
with his colleagues and seniors. His hobbies are swimming, reading content
that helps him improve his knowledge and spending time with friends.

Mr. Vijay joined Travel & Vacations - Delhi as Junior Officer [Travel]
on 21st October 2022.
Vijay is from Delhi. He lives with his family. His hobby is listening to music.
He completed his graduation from Delhi University in 2021 and also
acquired a professional qualification in computer education. His first job
experience was in IRCTC as an Apprentice in the Tourism Department for 1
year. After he applied in the Balmer Lawrie, he got selected for the post of
Junior Officer [Travel] for 3 years. He is very happy to get this job and
hopes to grow in the Company.
Mr. Vishvesh Singh joined Travel & Vacations - Delhi as Junior
Officer [Travel] on 31st October 2022.
Vishvesh was born in Uttar Pradesh and studied in New Delhi. He
completed his B.Sc. from IHM Lucknow and then MBA From IITTM Noida in
the year 2018. He got placed in DPauls Holidays Pvt. Ltd. Over there he
worked for 2 Years and then switched to several companies such as Holiday
Travel Triangle Pvt. Ltd., International Youth Club, and Thrillophilia
Adventure Tours Pvt. Ltd. Overall he has 3 years of experience in the
Travel industry. In his leisure time he loves to play chess and cook. His
family includes his elder brother who is working in Accenture as Team
Lead, his Father who is a Lecturer in SBV- Tughlakabad Extn. and his
mother who is a homemaker.
Mr. Prince Kumar Singh joined Greases & Lubricants - Bengaluru as
Asst. Manager [Industrial Sales] on 15th October 2022.
Prince worked with Berger Paints for the last 3.4 years in the Auto & GI
division (Industrial). He likes sports and loves to play badminton and has
played till the district level. He also loves to sing. There are six members in
his family including him. He looks up to our former president Dr. APJ Abdul
Kalam as an inspiration.
Ms. Anju joined Travel & Vacations - Delhi as Junior Officer [Travel]
on 17th October 2022.
Anju belongs to Faridabad (Haryana) and was born and brought up there.
She completed her BA in Human Resources from Delhi University in the
year 2010. In her leisure time she indulges in listening to music, watching
movies and cooking. Anju has work experience in Travel and looks forward
to giving her best as a Balmer Lawrien.
