Dear Judges:
My name is Paul Bechtel, and I am happy to be appearing before you today. Throughout
my life I have had two loves, computers and literature, and I plan on making them the
cornerstone of my future. It is my intention to graduate from Creekview and attend
Georgia College and State University down in Milledgeville. Once there I intend to major
in Print Journalism and minor in Computer Science, thus engaging both of my loves and
ensuring a steady cash flow later on in life.
The product that I bring before you today is a desktop computer, assembled by me to be
used when I go to college. My research paper was written on the subject of the history of
that greatest of computing giants, Microsoft. Though my paper didn’t provide me with
much practical information with which to construct my computer, it did give me plenty of
insight into what had to be done to come up with the machine I would eventually build,
as well as allowing me to broaden my knowledge of the computing industry and its
history.
Later on in life I hope to use the minor in Computer Science I mentioned above to get a
job working with computers. I believe the research I conducted to write my paper will be
helpful in that it told me how the higher-up of the computing field got to where they are
today, knowledge that certainly helps to fuel my ambition. As for my product, the
experience that it has granted me through its construction will undoubtedly come in hand
whether I work in the computing field later on in life or not. After all, who wouldn’t like
to build their own computers?
I found that working on this Senior Project was quite enjoyable. I was doing something
that I had wanted to do for quite some time, and documenting it didn’t prove to be much
of a hassle. All in all I feel that I benefited from the experience, and I hope that you see
that in my speech. Thank you for listening.
Sincerely,
Paul Bechtel
