The Pace Center at Princeton University offers numerous community service programs for students. Some programs focus on building community relations, such as Best Buddies which pairs students with those with intellectual disabilities. Other programs include Breakout Princeton which takes students off-campus to provide service in critical community areas like healthcare and incarceration issues. The Community House program also joined Pace Center in 2007 and provides resources to local families and youth. Overall, the Pace Center aims to combine service and learning so students can make a positive impact through experience.

Benjamin Spacapan
2. INTRODUCTION
Benjamin Spacapan of Chicago earned his bachelor’s degree in history, with a
specialization in Near Eastern history and contemporary European politics and
society from Princeton University. While studying at Princeton, Benjamin
Spacapan was involved in the Best Buddies program, an international nonprofit
that aims to bring people with and without intellectual disabilities together to form
friendships. It is one of many programs offered by the Pace Center for Civic
Engagement.
3. The Pace Center at Princeton University was founded with the principle that service
and learning should go hand-in-hand and that students at the school can truly make a
difference in the world. By offering a service to those in need, students can use that
experience as a guide to better their lives in the future.
4. Students can get involved in numerous programs, some of which focus on community
and relations. Breakout Princeton features off-campus trips where students provide
service in areas that are critical in the community, such as transgender healthcare
and mass incarceration. First-year students can join Community Action to get hands-
on experience and learning with the local community.
5. Pace Center also runs the Community House program, which joined the center in 2007
but has been helping families and youth in the local area since 1969. Community
House provides educational tools and resources, as well as mental health wellness.
Service focus is another program, and it allows students to see the real-world impact
connected to their academic studies.
