Powerful thing about social media = where else can you have people eagerly sign up to receive daily messages from you. Phone calls. Letters. Emails. Radio and TV can do the same but definitely NOT For Free
My qualifications. I didn’t quite start this young, but I did have an Atari 1200 XL at age 14. LinkedIn since 2006. 1000+friends on Facebook, blogging since 2006, 2800 followers on Twitter. And on the F2F networking side, over 2000 events in the last seven years.
Therefore: Using Social Media means that you are still NETWORKING, you’re just using a different forum. None of you need a lesson on how to network, but I want to give you a very simple networking strategy that you’ve never heard before. It applies not only to face to face business networking, but you can then apply it to social networking.
Intended for individuals. Facebook Terms of Service. If you use this for a NON person, they can legitimately cancel your account. Limits you to 5,000 friends. You can create lists of your friends. If you’re using the default privacy NO ONE can see the updates unless they become your friend. You have to respond to each friend request, I.e. they have to wait for you to respond.
Unlimited. Ability to message Fans. VISIBLE to everyone.

Extremely annoying when people send me friend requests and I have NO idea who they are. I suspect many of them just want to sell me something.
