  1. Fish! Not many of you dressed for the occasion I see! What I have for you today is BIG – well maybe this big  If it helped you boost morale and improve performance, would you be interested – show of hands? Shall I continue?
  2. FISH! is not a programme. You implement a programme to change or fix people but there’s nothing inspiring about being “programmed”. You can’t implement a philosophy. Instead you explore it, try it out and decide it its right for you. If it is, you live it because you believe in it. The Fish! Philosophy is a set of simple, practical tools to help you create the work culture you’ve been looking for. It’s a way to build stronger relationships that equip you to face your challenges more effectively. The FISH! Philosophy fulfils the most basic needs of human beings who, in turn, fulfil the needs of the organisation – more connected teams, better communication, extraordinary service and higher retention

Today, FISH! is flourishing in corporate and educational markets throughout the worlds – championed by business leaders, HR, training professionals and individuals committed to creating a culture of trust, accountability and innovation. The FISH! Philosophy is alive in organizations throughout the world – large and small, and in all industries. The concepts are universal Successes include Patient satisfaction increased an average of 51 percent in one year at Missouri Baptist Medical Center in St. Louis,
  4. Lets go back to the beginning - close your eyes – visualise/picture yourself working in a fish market – what’s it like? How does it feel, whats on your mind Probably the grimiest/smelliest job on the planet – low pay, monotonous, hard work, cold, long day

  6. That’s where the fish philosophy was born at the pike st fish market in Seattle until one day they had a vision and decided to become World Famous and …. Something wonderful happened. Show pictures – watch and record what you see?

Get something more than fish - enthusiasm Started as a bit of fun shouting/repeating orders What is the inspiration behind The FISH! Philosophy? The FISH! Philosophy was developed in 1998 by filmmaker and ChartHouse Learning Chairman John Christensen. FISH! is based on his observations of the inspiring way in which the fishmongers of Seattle’s Pike Place Fish Market approach their work everyday. When Christensen visited the market in 1997, he was instantly struck by this perfect example of a wholehearted workplace.

Only here for salary/security/ benefits? Started as a bit of fun – shouting/repeating orders – throwing fish, joking with customers making them part of the fun So whats the philosophy – they discovered 4 key ingredients to becoming world famous Choose your Attitude Play Make their day Be Present Being world famous was not about making lots of profit or selling lots of fish – that happened any way – a by product – just as improved service and high performing teams would be the by product for you. So lets take them one at a time
  9. Choose your Attitude Choose Your Attitude  means taking responsibility for how you respond to what life throws at you. Once you are aware that your choice impacts everyone around you, you can ask yourself, “Is my attitude helping my team or my customers? Is it helping me to be the person I want to be?” Choice about how you do your work even if there is no choice in the work you do Do some people have too much invested in being a victim? 7H be proactive – carry your own weather – be powerful not powerless Choices made today – got out of bed? Chose to dress? Chose to come here – choose to be happy today? What makes you happy/unhappy at work? Who are you being impatient bored – why not choose to be world famous – think youd behave and act differently . Play  taps into your natural way of being creative, enthusiastic and having fun. Play is the spirit that drives the curious mind, as in “Let’s play with that idea!” It’s a mindset you can bring to everything you do. Make Their Day  is finding simple ways to serve or delight people in a meaningful, memorable way. It’s about contributing to someone else’s life, not because you want something out of it, but because that’s the person you want to be.  Through The FISH! Philosophy, we build stronger relationships with the team members we work with, the customers we serve, the students we teach and the people we love.

It’s a powerful message of respect that improves communication and strengthens relationships Be Present The past is history The future a mystery Today is a gift That’s why we call it the present 1st rule of customer care – acknowledge the customer, what’s it like to be ignored? Has it happened to you/

  13. Go on make my day – start now - chose to become world famous and transform your workplace. Silhouette My wish now is for you to take this philosophy back to your own teams begin to live it and breath new life into our organisation. Who knows before long you too could become world famous How do you keep the momentum going once it’s been launched? Each day we have a choice to try and live more joyfully, responsibly and wholeheartedly. Living The FISH! Philosophy is a simple choice but a choice that needs to be made consciously each day.
