2. NATIONAL INTEGRATION
It is a psychological phenomenon, a feeling
of oneness that arises above all narrow
divisive tendencies
It signifies a strong feeling of patriotism and
love of the nation as well as faith in integrity
and binds the citizens of a country
3. It is a feeling of oneness irrespective of caste,
colour, sex, language, place of birth etc
4. • “It cannot be built by bricks and mortar, or with chisel
or hammer, it has to grow silently in the heart and
mind of men and education is the best means of it “

5. Need for National Integration in
Education
To strengthen our nation internally so that
everyone works together for the progress of
the country
To protect and preserve our domestic way of
life, the freedom and rights that we enjoy
6. To remove social injustice and oppressive
practices from our country
To prevent conflict and strife among the citizens
of our nation
To promote unity and solidarity in our country to
stand against foreign aggression
7. To generate economic growth and
development
To bring every citizen of the country into the
national mainstream to participate in the
national progress
8. Hurdles in the way of national integration
Communalism, Casteism, linguism, Regionalism,
Economic disparities and poverty, Regional
political parties, Mass illiteracy, Corruption,
Religious and political fundamentalism
9. Educational Programs for National
Integration
A national system of Education should be
implemented to foster the feeling of unity and
integrity among people
Give emphasis to National integration at all
levels
Three language formula should be implemented
10. Textbooks for the school students should be written on
national level rather than state or regional level
Interstate teacher-pupil exchange program
Singing National Anthem and National Educational
institutions
11. Celebration of important national days
Talks and seminars on national needs and
problems
Learning of Sanskrit, Hindi should be
encouraged
12. Pupils should be taught the lessons of
Democracy –liberty, equality, fraternity and
justice
Conduct national level seminars, symposiums,
workshops, exhibitions, quiz competitions etc
in schools
