2. AIM OF SHOOT
For this unit, I had to go out to Salford Quays and then
take several photographs around Salford Quays and then
edit them in Adobe Photoshop. Having clear
understanding of this particular unit and brief set, I have
managed to complete the task set which I feel is an
excellent standard. I have done then to the point where I
think they are effective, different and what I enjoy. I tried
to be as professional as I could with the photographs that
I was taking; however some of the photographs came out
in different qualities. Some were blurry and some were
perfect quality, and this gave me the option to define
what I did wrong with images as not focusing the camera
properly and not fixing the composition all the time
correctly. In order to get a steady camera and sort out a
proper composition, if I was going to do this project again
I would get a tripod which would better composition.
3. DESCRIPTION OF SHOOT
Well to start off with to get this image, I
travelled to Salford Quays with a camera I
had booked from college and took several
pictures through the day and night as I was
there a long time. When I came back to
college I then uploaded the images to the
computer and began to select images to
edit. The image on the right is one of the
images I chose o edit and has turned out to
be my favourite edit. If I had to redo the
shoot again then there isn't really anything
I would change because I took a wide
variety y of photographs and different
images of the day which would enable me
different kinds of images.
5. EDITING EFFECTS
How I edited it:
First off, I edited the brightness and
contrast to make the colour stand out
more.
Then I re-edited it again to up the
brightness and contrast
Knowing that is really all I did to the
image and knowing it has turned out
better than I expected. Having certain
parts of the image vibrant and standing
out more on than others.
6. FINAL IMAGES
This is one of my final images which I have
liked. I feel that the strengths of it are that
there is just one main object within the image
and that is the goose. With it in mid-flight
showing great example of the fast speed
shutter. By having a clear focus on the goose
and having the tips of the wings blurry just
shows. The weakness I feel the image has is
the fact there seems to be a lot of space within
the background but then again the weakness
to me seems to be its strength. The fact I put
the image in black and white along with the
lens correction just gives highlights within the
image.
7. FINAL IMAGES
This is another one of my final images that
I like. I think this image works well with
the colour because it’s not like its original
colour. Having the two colours purple and
yellow, which can be considered as
complimentary colours. This is one of the
strengths about the image in which I like
and think works well. Within the image as
it’s like something you wouldn’t expect the
complimentary colours to be on the
building. One weakness I think it lacks is
the fact it isn’t 100% following the rule of
thirds and I feel like if the image was
following that rule then it would look better
and more professional. However I feel the
composition itself works.
8. REJECTED IMAGES
These three images are the images I
rejected and didn’t take further because
either the picture quality wasn’t as good as
other images or there wasn’t anything
really to it.
Even though these images themselves
could have been edited to the standard of
final images, I feel that these would not of
turned out as good as the other have. Each
having its own composition and style to it
makes it an individual image.
9. AIMS FOR NEXT PROJECT
My final artwork has just blown out my original intentions as I felt
like I wouldn’t create as good of images than I already have done and
they wouldn’t turned out to near professional standards. As the
images have turned out better than expected, I had chosen a couple of
the Salford Quays images to put into my portfolio as I felt they
worked well and the editing was great. I had no initial audience for
my images however, people who have looked at the final pieces of art
work have enjoyed what I have done and either liked or loved the
images. I personally love what I have done as I know it’s my work
and I am getting to where I want to be with the actual photography,
my skills are developing slowly and my Photo Shop skills are
becoming more advanced as I know how to use it and what to do with
the tools.
10. The different stages I went through to get my final edited images were all effective.
The research helped me decide what I wanted to exactly take images of and how I
would like to hopefully edit them. The planning and preparation didn’t go as I
thought it would because I didn’t really plan when I was going to do it and the
preparation was a last minute thing. If I was to do it again I would plan several day
trips to take the images as the weather can also have a big impact on the image
being taken from it being sunny or it raining, there will be a different type of
atmosphere coming from the image. The time management and the project
management have both been all over the place as I started the assignment. As it has
gone further down the line, they have both become more into place and I know
where I am I know what needs to be done and what hasn’t been done. It has slightly
fallen into place as well as the creative ability. Editing the images and recording
what I have done to create the final image has been long and difficult as some of the
images I had just edited without recording so thinking back on what I had done and
thinking about what I need to do to recreate the image wasn’t easy.
11. Next time when I do another shoot I will try and make my
photographs more professional and I will try and keep the time
management to a complete organized manor. Putting more focused
time and consideration into taking the photographs. Trying to
maintain steady focus to get a great composition and rule of thirds.
