INTERNATIONAL FANTASY FOOTBALL LEAGUE CONDUCTS ITS 5TH ANNUAL DRAFT
***Players chosen to represent their nations in the 2019 NFL regular season***
It’s official! The International Fantasy Football League successfully conducted their 5th annual draft, and as always, there were more
than its share of surprises.
As expected, the first three selections went for SAQUON BARKLEY, ALVIN KAMARA and EZEKIEL ELLIOTT with the 1st, 2nd and
3rd overall picks, respectively. What wasn’t foreseen is the USA’s MIGHTY CYCLONES scooping up Chiefs QB PATRICK MAHOMES
at #4. Said team owner GRIDIRON GOOSE, “By far, Mahomes is the highest ranked player in projected fantasy points, especially now
that his favorite target, Tyreek Hill, is back in the mix. Besides that, Mahomes almost single-handedly launched Shanghai Wang into the
#1 ranked spot, last year. I’m banking he’ll do the same for the Mighty Cyclones this season.”
Other surprise picks included the RUSSIAN HACKERS who selected Cardinals RB DAVID JOHNSON at #6. There’s also Rams RB
TODD GURLEY, who was chosen by Australia’s STORMOZ at #12. Both running backs were considered by most so-called experts to
be taken midway through the 2nd round.
In all, running backs came at a high premium in the 1st round, where a league-record 9 out of 12 selections were spent at that position.
The USA’s PROCTERS drafted the most backs with 10. Three teams, the UK’s BOWL BOUND MAVERICKS, Mighty Cyclones and
StormOZ selected the fewest running backs with 3, each.
Just 1 wide receiver was selected in the 1st round, which is least in league history. That player, DEANDRE HOPKINS, was chosen by
Mexico’s BLEEDING BLUE.
24 tight ends were chosen, which set a league record for most in an IFFL draft. Nigeria’s GREEN BEARS picked the most tight ends,
with 5. Four of those tight ends were drafted in consecutive rounds 12, 13, 14, and 15.

12 StormOZ, AU Joshua Mann RB T. Gurley, LAR
Canada’s Two-time World Champion REMIS ISLAND drafted 11th out of 12 teams, but much to their credit, they walked away with an
A+ draft grade by national fantasy draft experts. Last year, Remis Island drafted dead-last, yet successfully defended their 2017 title by
winning it all again in 2018. This Remis Island team might be even better than those two previous championship teams.
For the 5th time in 5 years, Mexico’s Bleeding Blue selected Packers QB AARON RODGERS. Rodgers must be some good luck charm
seeing how Bleeding Blue is the only team in league history to make the playoffs in each of the last 4 seasons.
China’s JAYMIN received an A grade for their draft, and rightfully so. They assembled an amazing starting lineup which includes the
three-headed monster of BECKHAM, COOKS and HILTON. Moreover, they have immense depth. Barring being bitten by the injury
bug, the Jaymin certainly look like they’re well on their way back to the World Bowl.
Based on the draft, fantasy football analysts aren’t giving Australia’s StormOZ much hope. StormOZ currently ranks last in the pre-
season polling following a D grade in the draft. Their highest graded position is a C+ at the wide receiver position, where their base-
starters are DIGGS and SMITH-SCHUSTER. StormOZ has worked with a lot less before. The results were two-straight playoff seasons
and one World Bowl appearance, thus underscoring the adage, “It ain’t where you start, but where you finish.”
The UK’s two teams, MEN OF STEEL and Bowl Bound Mavericks, were both given B grades for the draft and currently rank among the
league’s five top teams in the pre-season rankings. Both teams made the playoffs last year and experts are expecting them to do the
same this season. However, analysts are somewhat pessimistic about the both of their quarterback positions. Perhaps that is an area
to keep an eye out for.
China’s SHANGHAI WANG did okay for having the 10th pick. Just okay? Yes, just okay. Drafting MELVIN GORDON was a gamble that
could possibly pay off in the long run. But the longer he holds out of camp the less it will take for him to get injured; things like a yanked
hammy or Achilles tendons. Plus, Gordon will have to go from amazing to superhuman in a very short amount of time. Besides Gordon,
there are WATSON, ADAMS, MACK, HYDE, WHITE, and KITTLE. So, the base for a good team is there. However, outside of Adams
and possibly Gordon, none of the other aforementioned players, nor their reserves are near the top of their positions.
The USA’s BIG DAWGS continue their legacy of run first and deal with everything else as they come. The Big Dawgs spent their first
two picks on running backs, namely KAMARA and LINDSAY and may have made one of the best steals of the draft by choosing Sony
Michel in the 7th round. All of the Big Dawgs’ other positions are stable, meaning they’ll hold their own, including ALLEN, GODWIN
and HENRY. But, if there’s any letdown from the Big Dawgs’ running backs for any extended period of time, collectively, there isn’t but
so much available to make up for lost ground.
