2019 INTERNATIONAL FANTASY FOOTBALL LEAGUE DRAFT PREVIEW

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE INTERNATIONAL FANTASY FOOTBALL LEAGUE Wednesday July 17, 2019 Richmond/Midlothian, Virginia GridironGoose@msn.com 8 NATIONS PREPARE TO SELECT THEIR PLAYERS FOR THE 2019 NFL SEASON IN THE INTERNATIONAL FANTASY FOOTBALL LEAGUE’S 5TH ANNUAL DRAFT, SATURDAY JULY 20 TOP ROW: 1. 2. 2. Finally, after eight long, grueling months of no fantasy football, all of the waiting, pacing, counting down the days are about to come to a screeching halt. For the 5th year in a row, the International Fantasy Football League will take center stage to conduct their annual draft, thus ushering in the official start of the 2019 fantasy football season. This Saturday, at precisely 11 a.m. (EST), 12 team owners representing 8 countries, spanning 5 different continents, will be selecting players they hope will carry them and their nation into next December’s World Bowl V. Once there, they hope to taste the sweet nectar of victory, a delightful concoction of decadence reserved only for world champions. For 3 hours, fantasy football fans around the world will be holding their breaths in anticipation to see the results of which players will fill their nation’s roster. For some, there will be jubilation. For others, wailing and gnashing of teeth await them. The 2019 IFFL Draft will consist of 16 rounds, with each team having 2 minutes per selection. The ‘snake’ method will be used to determine each team’s draft picks. In addition, the league will continue to implement the PPR format, an acronym used to award 1 point per reception. As with every year, the International Fantasy Football League continues to make changes intended to improve the quality of play and balance the level of parity. That said, there are two new changes being implemented to this year’s draft. One of those changes is team owners will no longer be required to draft at least 1 player to fill all 9 of their starting positions. Before, a team owner had no choice but to select a kicker and/or defense. Now. if a team owner chooses to use those draft picks to stock up at other positions, they are at liberty to do so. However, team owners will be required to adjust their rosters on a later date in order to be able to fill all starting 9 spots prior to each week’s deadline. The second change is that, for the first time ever, during next Saturday’s draft, team owners will be providing live Facebook updates in their native language for their fellow countrymen and women. This way, fantasy football fans will be able to keep abreast of the latest developments of the draft in real time. 2019 IFFL 1ST ROUND DRAFT ORDER & MOCK SELECTIONS IFFL TEAM MOCK PLAYER PROJ. PK. I’ve handed everyone, here present, the IFFL’s past 4 draft’s, facts and figures, trends, etcetera. Media contacts abroad and nationwide who are not present, you will be receiving the same draft information in our national and international press release later today. Any questions? No? Okay, then Brian, take it away.” BRIAN’S OPENING STATEMENT, Q&A “Thanks, Keith. I really don’t have much to say, other than I’m grateful to the Son of man, our league’s twelve team owners, our sponsors, and our media contacts, here stateside and throughout the world. And, of course, I can’t forget the fans. None of this would have been possible without all of you, and most especially the Son of man. But even after 4, going on 5 years, it still amazes me that, with all the division, the violence, surrounding us today, it is, of all things, fantasy football that brings peace, unity and respect for one another. And if we achieved just that, alone, and failed at everything else, then I suppose that is a very good thing. Questions?” (on the level of competition in the IFFL versus fantasy leagues in the USA) “Comparatively speaking, the competition is far more fierce in the International Fantasy Football League than the leagues, stateside. Last year, 8 out of our 12 teams finished with winning records. A ninth team, the Russian Hackers, were just 1 game short of posting an above-.500 season. Even our 3 worst teams battled it out to keep from hitting rock-bottom. Everyone in our league is dedicated, determined. For the teams who haven’t done so well, they lovingly take on the role as spoilers. No one quits. They keep their word and see things through, no matter how bitter, no matter how bad things are. That’s just the opposite from what I’ve experienced and what fantasy commissioners have told me in the U.S. It’s hard to get any of my fellow-Americans to do the right thing. It’s like getting a cat to bark. In American fantasy leagues, there always seems to be constant inner strife, unnecessary drama. Everybody wants what they
  3. 3. want, when they want it. Honestly, if it wasn’t for the International Fantasy Football League, I wouldn’t be competing in fantasy football.” (if drafting at such a late hour puts China’s Jaymin and Shanghai Wang, and Australia’s StormOZ at a disadvantage) “Well, let’s see, the Jaymin have posted 3 winning seasons in 4 years, plus a World Bowl title. Shanghai Wang finished last season ranked #1 going into the playoffs. StormOZ made the post-season in each of their first two years in the league and they reached the World Bowl last season before succumbing to Remis Island. Does it look like they’re at a disadvantage? It doesn’t to me.” (on what the IFFL’s 3 USA teams need to do to turn things around) “Excellent question of which I have absolutely no answer. Maybe draft better players? Maybe count to ten before cutting a starter and replacing him with someone on a practice squad? Maybe listen to what conventional wisdom says? I do not know. In the Mighty Cyclones’ case, perhaps it might help if the Gridiron Goose doesn’t do like he did last year when he cut high caliber players like Murray, Cohen and Amari Cooper. There’s no doubt, collectively, Goose, Cory and Berk gotta get their kaka together. Up to this point, they have dispelled any notion that American football, at least in a fantasy sense, is exclusively American. It’s a myth. It isn’t true, therefore ‘tis a lie.” (on which team owner Brian reveres the most going in the draft) “That’s easy. Canada’s Michael Remis and Remis Island. Last year, they drafted dead-last. Yet, they picked up Hopkins, Thielen and Julio Jones in the first 3 rounds. From there, they marched onward to their second-straight world championship title. But then you look at teams like Bleeding Blue and StormOZ, who had what many fantasy experts would consider borderline lousy drafts. Yet, both teams made the post-season. Then I look at China’s Jaymin, who snatched up Antonio Brown, Adams and Hilton with their first three picks. Yet, they ever-so narrowly missed out on the playoffs. So, go figure.” (on which team Brian fears the most having to play) “All 12 teams. Remis Island we’ve already covered. Shanghai Wang finished their rookie season ranked #1 with a league-best 10-3-0 record. The Men of Steel made the post-season 3 times in 4 years. The last-ranked Big Dawgs were in the World Bowl just 3 years ago. Bleeding Blue is gunning for their 5th-straight playoff season. The Bowl Bound Mavericks and StormOZ are aiming for their 3rd-straight. The Green Bears enter the league competition for the first time, and with the 1st overall pick to boot. The Russian Hackers are coming off their finest season. If the Procters’ players can just stay healthy, they might be able to finally reach the top.” QUOTES FROM OUR IFFL TEAM OWNERS MIKHAIL REZAKOV, RUSSIA “Dear opponents, draft day is the perfect day! Everybody believes in their own rankings, they believe in the stupidity of others, and they believe they can draft Henderson in round 10 and Gurley in the 3rd round. Draft Day is the best day in the fantasy season for everyone, especially for the future champion! So, I wish you luck, have fun, drink beer and relax! On this day we are Schrödinger Champions! With best regards, Mikhail” CORY PROCTER, PROCTERS, USA “Excited for this year’s draft to build a great 2019 season! It’s going to be a blast and no doubt some great competition!” JORGE BOADA, BLEEDING BLUE, MEXICO "In this year’s IFFL Draft I´m not sure if Aaron Rodgers is still my lock No 1 pick, at number 8th I think I have many other options. I think I need to change my strategy, because I left the most of the charge to the QB, I´ve made the playoffs every season but I feel like the Texans clinching the playoffs each season and not to be able to advance" JASON RUTH, BOWL BOUND MAVERICKS, UK “It's that time of the year and the IFFL draft is nearly upon us. Hoping to pick a balanced team to push further into the playoffs this
  4. 4. season. There was a big influx of very good players from the college's this year, so there will be a vast pool of players to pick from this year. Looking forward to the draft and representing the UK. Good luck to everyone pushing towards World Bowl V.” BERK WILEY, BIG DAWGS, USA “The Big Dawgs are gonna take a bite out of the IFFL.” SKUDS AND DUDS Are there ‘silver bullet’ players that, if drafted, will that move alone dramatically increase your odds of reaching the top? Perhaps. Perhaps not. There are the usual movers and shakers like Brees, Ryan, Gurley, Hopkins, and Jones; players who have launched their teams into the post-season and beyond. Yet, then there are players like Ezekiel Elliott and Tom ‘Terrific’ Brady who have never taken their teams into the playoffs, much less the World Bowl. Below is a list of premier players who were selected in the IFFL’s past 4 drafts. Included are the results, thereof. AVAILABLE TIMES PLAYOFF PLAYOFF WORLD WORLD POS.
