My design philosophy is centered
on sustainable design and how its
positive impacts can effect change in
our world. As a designer I am allowed
the opportunity to be creative on
a daily basis while also getting to
find solutions to problems that will
benefit others. Design also provides a
certain amount of variety with each
new project. This feature appeals to
my logical side that wants to find the
most effective and unique solution to
each new problem. When designing
I tend to have a minimalist view on
the spaces and enjoy creating areas
that are extremely functional yet also
simple and elegant. As a designer I
have the chance to improve peoples’
lives and bring about change in our
society through well thought out
spaces that follow the principles of
form follows function.

Challenge: The model for a typical
convenience store is evolving in
America. This project challenged
me to develop a design that took
into account branding and customer
experience in a retail environment.
The concept for this convenience store
is the Greek word agora which was an
open-air space in the center of ancient
Greek cities. The literal translation
of agora is “gathering space” which
inspired the idea of a nucleus within
neighborhoods, where people could
gather and form a community.

Corporate Design:
Lululemon Headquarters
Duration: 6 Weeks
Location: Denver, Colorado
SQ FT: 10,000
Year: Junior
Challenge: This project tasked me with producing a
design for the new office headquarters of Lululemon.
The design challenged me to confront the ideas of
the modern office, efficiency in the workplace, and
employee satisfaction. All while complying with LEED
green building rating systems from the U.S.G.B.C,
making this a LEED Certified project.
Concept: The concept for this project was a clearing
in the center of a dense forest. Overall use of line and
shape within the space will follow cues from the forest
and revolve around a vertical orientation remaining
straight and geometric, like the trunks of trees. A variety
of textures will be used throughout the space to create
interest. While architectural elements within the space
will seem to encircle users to further drive the feeling of
refuge, and encompassment.

being developed by the R&D departments.
A lowered ceiling encompassing the perimeter
allows the reception area to open in the center,
evoking the feeling of a clearing.
Rear concave pockets are backed with a cork material
for pinning up information to share with co-workers.
Fostering a community within the workplace.

Residential Design:
Steiner Residence
9
Duration: 10 Weeks
Location: Tallahassee, Florida
SQ FT: - 1st Floor - 2,500
	 - 2nd Floor - 1,500
Year: Senior
Challenge: This residential redesign will be completed for
the Steiner family, located in Tallahassee, Florida and will
consist of a full renovation of the existing building. The client
hopes to receive a design that will promote a good flow and
also supports their lifestyle.
Concept: The driving force behind this design will be the
journey through the home, more specifically, the path the sun
takes as it moves throughout the house during a day. The
clients’ goal of a good flow will be realized in a layout that
corresponds with the suns travels from sunrise to sunset and
its impact in each space depending on the time of day and use
of the room. Overall light, both natural and artificial, will be a
large factor in guiding users throughout the space.
Early mornings getting the kids ready for school, and yourselves up and going
will be enhanced by the bright and airy atmosphere emanating from the kitchen.
A large island, along with a separate booth provides enough seating for the
whole family, and a strip of windows doubles as a back splash along one wall to
capitalize on natural light. As soon as the sun rises the kitchen is bathed in direct
sunlight, providing energy and giving your family that kick to start their day.

The living room will be a comfortable and inviting space free of clutter, lending
itself to be the perfect place for celebrating special occasions. This room will
receive ample indirect natural light which as studies have shown, can help make
a space feel welcoming. Utilizing built-ins provides more than enough room to
set up a Christmas tree in one corner, and take the rare opportunity in Florida to
settle down to in front of the fire on a particularly cold winter day.
