45. Standard charging requires dedicated line for each charging station
Facility costs often dwarf the costs of the chargers:
• Possible panel upgrades
• Possible expensive upgrades from the utility, such as a new transformer.
Don’t think “I just need a charger”
46. Parking areas designed with limited power
Typical Level 2 Chargers require 40-50 amp circuits
10 chargers=> 400-500 amps of additional service
• Farexceeding the service availableatthe averageparkinglocation.
Results in expensive facilities upgrades, and project delays
Don’t think“power is there”
47. WhatToday’s ChargingSolutionsDon’tDo
No “Entire Premises” Solution
• Tackleonly EV Charging
• Disconnected from rest of building energyusage picture
No Monitoring or Control capabilities
• Inefficientpower control during “Peak Demand Hours”
No EV Charging solution to alleviate “Move your EV” productivity issues
No solution that reduces “Total Cost of Ownership” and high facility CapEx and OpEx costs
48. EV MasterController (EVMC) Does….
• Charge4 or moreEVs withasingle electrical circuit
• Reduce panel upgrade& trenchingcosts by up to 50%
• Alleviates“MoveyourEV”concern
• Save 85hours/ monthof lost productivity
• 4 stations
• 10 minutes x2 people x 3 times / day
• Everyone gets a charge
• Dailydrive is covered
• Prioritysupport for VIPs
• Flexible, intelligent charging options: roundrobin, priority,time-
weighted, preferred, etc.
• Saveenergy & costs
• Part of entire premises power mgmt solution
• Time-of-Use&Demand aware charging
• Reduce peakdemand byup to 75%
49. Do “Zero InfrastructureEV Expansion”
EVSE Without EVMC EVSE With EVMC
• Expand from 1 existing unit to 4 units with NO added infrastructure required
• No infrastructure costs => lower installation costs => faster roll-out

59. LAPD: Fleet charging and load management
Success stories
59
Project Overview
City of Los Angeles has a target of
50% of new city fleet vehicles to be
electric by 2017 and 80% by 2025.
• LAPD is largest fleet in the city and
first department to go electric with the
first 100 BMW i3s out of 500 EVs in
total
• Building on open standards allows
HW to be selected based on specific
site requirements
• Greenlots was selected to provide
100 L2 and 4 DC Fast Chargers at
one location with DR capabilities
Key Benefits
Load management avoids electrical
infrastructure upgrades and reduces
demand charges.
• Responds to real-time electricity
demand of building
• Charge optimization and prioritization
ensures vehicles are charged when
they are needed
• Reporting tracks fleet data, operating
cost and efficiencies of an all-electric
fleet
• Rolling out charging infrastructure to
25 facilities across city

Three types of clean fuel vehicles: PHEV, BEV, FCEV
Amounts also depend on location of the vehicle (domicile).
Whether your fleet is planning to acquire an eligible vehicle, has ordered a
vehicle or has already taken delivery of a vehicle, you can apply online to
reserve rebate funds. Eligibility is based on the location of the facility where the
vehicle will be domiciled and where it will be primarily operated.

Problems Scaling Up
-Load Management
-Integrating into billing systems
-Extra staffing?
-Forecasting fuel (electricity) fuel costs
Sometimes even adding 2 chargers can be a challenge as there may only be one 40amp breaker available.
