Notes de l'éditeur
Here we are!
Atlanta is a big city with a lots of great things happening to impact our communities.
“ IN THE BEGINNING,2008, The Circle of Joy (COJ) was founded because a group of women decided they could work together and help impact the lives of youth in the Atlanta Metro Area.
The mission was formed after hard work and lots of brainstorming…. The mission of the Circle of Joy “To pool our time, talent, and treasure and to partner with agencies who are positively impacting youth in the Metro Atlanta Area.
Our giving circle is leveraging its collective resources to create the community change to educate its donors/members about the power of collective philanthropy by attending all conference since the COJ was founded in 2008. We are able to share the knowledge and skills with others in a effort to enlighten them about the knowledge and power of collective giving.
Giving circles are a resurgence of an old tradition of philanthropy that has been making an impact nationwide. Giving circles provide an opportunity for individuals to join others through collective charitable giving.
The COJ also leverages its collective resources to create the community change to broaden its donors/members' awareness of issues affecting youth in the Atlanta Metro Area.
By tutoring “ I Have a Dream” students (2010 grantee)
The COJ also leverages its collective resources to create the community change by making investments in nonprofits and community-based organizations engaged in impacting youth to have a positive future.
We also expand philanthropy and increase giving by sharing knowledge with others and encourage their donating to our collective giving efforts.
The Circle of Joy will provide for its future by continually attracting new members and by engaging in creative activities that will provide treasure to be used for our grantees.
By entertaining and informing others of the impact of philanthropy!
The Circle of Joy (COJ ) Giving Circle is a philanthropic vehicle that promotes collective giving of time talent and treasure.. As a group, members of the Circle pool their contributions and strategically invest in improving the quality of life for the youth of the Atlanta Metro Area. In 2010, the COJ led with our time in tutoring I HAVE A DREAM students, and volunteering for Students without Mothers Activities and Scholarship Banquet. The COJ Members also support functions presented by our grantees.
COJ provides financial resources to organizations and programs based on specific criteria established by the Circle members.
Our tactics include planning the events for the year, as well as networking with other circles in CIN, and researching the organizations that we provide our time, talent and treasure.
Once the calendar of events is discussed we actually review possible non profits we can help with our time talents and treasures. We have in the past led with our money and then followed with time and talents to help the youth group we provided with treasure.
Giving to Students Without Mothers Organization provides scholarships for students whose mothers are deceased.
