2. I am the true vine, and my Father is the
vinedresser. Every branch in me that does not
bear fruit he takes away, and every branch
that does bear fruit he prunes, that it may
bear more fruit. Already you are clean
because of the word that I have spoken to
you. Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch
cannot bear fruit by itself, unless it abides in
the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in
me. I am the vine; you are the branches.
3. Whoever abides in me and I in him, he it is
that bears much fruit, for apart from me you
can do nothing. If anyone does not abide in
me he is thrown away like a branch and
withers; and the branches are gathered,
thrown into the fire, and burned. If you abide
in me, and my words abide in you, ask
whatever you wish, and it will be done for
you.
John 15:1-7 (ESV)
7. “GROWS ON YOU”
• CONNECTION TO HIM
• ABIDING IN HIM
• ABIDING TAKES FAITH
8. “GROWS ON YOU”
• CONNECTION TO HIM
• ABIDING IN HIM
• ABIDING TAKES FAITH
• WE ABIDE IN HIM; HIS WORDS
ABIDE IN US
9. John 15:7
If you abide in me, and my words abide in you,
ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for
you.
10. What causes quarrels and what causes fights
among you? Is it not this, that your passions
are at war within you? You desire and do not
have, so you murder. You covet and cannot
obtain, so you fight and quarrel. You do not
have, because you do not ask. You ask and do
not receive, because you ask wrongly, to
spend it on your passions.
James 4:1-3 (ESV)
11. And James and John, the sons of Zebedee,
came up to him and said to him, "Teacher, we
want you to do for us whatever we ask of
you.“ And he said to them, "What do you want
me to do for you?“ And they said to him,
"Grant us to sit, one at your right hand and
one at your left, in your glory.“ Jesus said to
them, "You do not know what you are asking.
Are you able to drink the cup that I drink, or to
be baptized with the baptism with which I am
baptized?"
12. And they said to him, "We are able." And
Jesus said to them, "The cup that I drink you
will drink, and with the baptism with which I
am baptized, you will be baptized, but to sit at
my right hand or at my left is not mine to
grant, but it is for those for whom it has been
prepared.“ And when the ten heard it, they
began to be indignant at James and John. And
Jesus called them to him and said to them,
"You know that those who are considered
rulers of the Gentiles lord it over them, and
their great ones exercise authority over them.
13. But it shall not be so among you. But whoever
would be great among you must be your
servant, and whoever would be first among
you must be slave of all. For even the Son of
Man came not to be served but to serve, and
to give his life as a ransom for many.“
Mark 10:35-45 (ESV)
14. And we have seen and testify that the Father
has sent his Son to be the Savior of the world.
Whoever confesses that Jesus is the Son of
God, God abides in him, and he in God. So we
have come to know and to believe the love
that God has for us. God is love, and whoever
abides in love abides in God, and God abides
in him.
1 John 4:14-16 (ESV)
15. Delight yourself in the LORD, and he will give
you the desires of your heart.
Psalm 37:4 (ESV)
