if foot orthoses are required:
Assessment Casting
Dispensing/
Fitting
Follow-up
Reassessment
7. Treatment Plan
The treatment plan may include:
Foot orthoses
Instructions on proper footwear
Stretching/Physiotherapy
8. Casting
Plaster of Paris casting material
is placed on the feet and the feet
are held in a corrected position
based on the needs of the individual.
Once hardened, the plaster
is removed.
9. Dispensing
7-14 days later you return
to try on the foot orthoses
and take them home.
We re-assess your comfort and gait.
10. Follow-up
After you have had a chance to wear the foot orthoses in your
daily routine, you return and we re-assess your comfort and gait.
If, at any time, you are not comfortable or
the orthoses are not helping, make an
appointment for a re-assessment.
11. What to bring
To prepare for your appointment,
please bring:
The shoes that you normally wear (1-3 pairs)
Any past foot orthoses or braces that you have used in
the past
A prescription or referral (if you have one)
