MARKET WRAP
Indian equity market ends with moderate gains around 0.4% throughout the week.
August WPI inflation came up at 9.78%, RBI ups repo rate by 25 BPS to 8.25%.
Global equity markets ended mixed with Asian losing 1-4% and US gaining 4-6%.

Indian markets performed well during the week but the upward movement was confined
to large cap counters. Global cues were mixed, Industrial Production (IIP), expanded by
just 3.3% in July, RBI hikes policy rates by 25 bps but Indian market remained steady.
Nifty and Sensex both gain more than 0.4%. Bank Nifty this week has gained around
0.4%. IT was the top gainer this week gaining 2.9%. Nifty has a crucial support at 5200
breaking which can test the level of 5400, while its resistance is at around 4900.

India's continuing with its anti-inflationary stance, RBI has raised benchmark interest
rates by 25bps, while keeping CRR unchanged. India's WPI rose 9.78% in Aug on y/y
basis. The IIP growth for the month of July11 saw a sharp decline at 3.3% compared to
8.8% in April. The IIP growth for the April-June quarter was at 5.8% compared to 9.7%
y/y. The dismal number was mainly on account poor performance by capital goods,
manufacturing & mining sectors reflecting sluggishness in the economy. .

Global equities rose as Investors expect the Federal Reserve to take steps to pull
down long-term interest rates. Fears that Greece's fiscal troubles would bring down the
European financial system eased after the world's leading central banks on Thursday
agreed to boost short-term dollar funding for banks in Europe constrained by a dollar
shortage. European markets gains 2-7% with DAX leading while U.S markets gains 4.7-
6.3% with Nasdaq ending up 6.25%, DJIA up 4.7% & S&P 500 up 5.35%. Asian
markets this week remains down with Hang Seng down 2% & Nikkei down 1.45%
