2. My filming partner and I knew we wanted to create a theme across our ancillary
tasks and our main produc2on to show a key rela2onship across all 3 products that
would easily support each other and effec2vely. We chose to s2ck with the same
house style which concerns, font , size and colour. The actual 2tle for our product
was the exact same across the 3 product to create an overall combina2on that could
be recognised from our audience. For example we did not want the font to be
different on one product than the other as it would be harder for the audience to
become aware our product, the 2le is the main away of adver2sing and crea2ng a
logo that can be recognised across all borders and at any loca2on therefore it was
crucial that we kept this the same. Superman is a great example of this as the logo is
an iconic symbol distributed throughout various forms of media and is a away of
adver2sing par2cularly using merchandise.
During pre produc2on it was vital that we came up with an aesthe2c combina2on
of colours and fonts that would display a romance drama which is why we chose a
blue colour pallet, although typically the design team may chose red or pinks
however, we had to keep in mind that our characters are only young and we wanted
to infer their innocence as characters. Other effec2ve assets that are displayed
across the products is Ellie’s dress and Scarf which is seen throughout our
adver2sement, review and produc2on. It was key that we displayed elements of
Ellie’s illness so the audience Is aware of the narra2ve and the nature of our film
geSng a sense of who PROMISE is targeted to. Furthermore keeping the colours
light conveys the nature of PROMISE as it is a light film that doesn’t acquire much
thinking to work out what is currently happening or ini2ally going to happen,
therefore having darker colours would have conveyed a much nega2ve meaning
behind our short film.
3. Audience feedback was also a great way to show support that the combina2on
of our ancillary tasks and main product is effec2ve. Throughout pre, during
and post the produc2on stages we held various interviews and ques2onnaires
that allowed us to acquire more in depth knowledge about our audience
resul2ng in us being able to target them in the most appropriate manner.
When it become apparent to us that the majority of our audience was female
we needed to cater to this which resulted in a feminine and light feel to our
ancillary work which we also portrayed throughout the produc2on such as
Ellie is show to wear light and loose clothing, which although the main reason
behind her style was that she was ill but also because we wanted our target
audience to be able to relate to her. Furthermore Ellie’s bedroom was another
great way to show this such as the pink and grey scheme that is conveyed
throughout the décor , when we constructed an effec2ve set we kept this in
mind par2cularly how our audience’s bedrooms would look like, I also
presented this within the background colour of the film poster and Kayyah
included a scene in which Ellie is sat in her bedroom.
To concluded I believe that the combina2on of our main product and ancillary
tasks is effec2ve par2cularly due to the sense of adver2sement that we have
created with the 2tle and colour scheme. However we could have further
linked our ancillary work together by altering a few factors such as the same
ra2ng used on each task, or a link to the film poster within the review could
have benefited our work. However, we did both men2on who was part of the
produc2on team and the actors involved.
