2. Yorkshire Sex Work Academic
Consortium http://yaswc.org.uk/
• Researchers with sex work expertise to work alongside
Genesis & other practitioners across Yorkshire to share
understanding, develop research and create network
and collaborative activities.
• Establish a research programme with Genesis and the
sex work community in Leeds/Yorkshire
• Create collaborative initiatives between the Yorkshire
Universities and sex work projects.
• Disseminate findings and information to policy makers
and practitioners to further develop understanding of
sex work in and beyond this locality and contribute to
the evidence base

to be safe and make their own choices.
Our overall aim is to improve the health,
safety and wellbeing of women involved in
the sex industry

needs of our service users adopting an
evidence based approach based on needs
assessment, evaluation, research and
consultation

• Intend that dissemination informs practice and policy to
achieves best outcomes for individuals
• Key trends in sex work activities, safety and support.
• Broader context of austerity, policy developments and
social change.
• National Ugly Mug partnership – raise profile of
reporting and preventing violence
• Inform Leeds Prostitution Strategy and also in response
to knowledge gaps identified in “Scoping Prostitution in
Leeds” i.e. re male and transgender sex workers,
migrant sex work
• Promote national good practice on key issues.
