When given a point and a slope, use point-slope form to write an equation for this
the line containing that point and having that slope.

 When given the slope and the y-intercept of a line, plug those
numbers into slope-intercept form in order to find the equation
for that line.
A line has a slope of 2 and a y-intercept of 5.
The equation for this line in slope-intercept form is

5. + When given a graph
 When given a graph of a line, to find the equation of that line in
slope-intercept form, determine the slope and the y-intercept,
then plug those numbers in to the slope-intercept form.
Slope= rise = 1

6. + When given two points
 When given two points, find the slope of the line between those
two points and then use point-slope form to find the equation in
slope-intercept form.
(3, -5) and (4, -1)
Slope = y2-y1 = -1 – (-5) = 4 = 4
x2-x1 = 4 - 3 1

(3, -5) and (4, -1)
Slope = 4
Plug the one of the points and the slope into the point-slope form.
Y-(-1) = 4(x-4)

Now, just solve the equation for y and the equation will be in slope-
intercept form.
Y-(-1) = 4(x-4)
Y+1 = 4x-16
