This is because it matches the happy, upbeat theme of the song. In our music video we plan to use a lot of colour and interesting outfits. Party Rock Anthem - LMFAO

All About Tonight - Pixie Lott Last Friday Night – Katy Perry A lot of the videos in the pop genre have dancing scenes containing a lot of people because the songs are about partying and having fun. The singers are always in the centre of the scene, to show that they are the main characters in the video. In our video the main character will be in the centre of most of the shots. 8. Some music videos use the same type of extreme close up shot on the main character to portray expression and to help tell the story of the video. This is the kind of shot we will use in our music video.

Long shots are mainly used to give a full perspective on what is happening in the music video and to mainly in upbeat songs, to show the artist’s dancing ability and their dancers dancing on the set. We plan to use lots of shots like this in our video and focus on the legs and feet of our actors as they’ll be shuffling.

10. Establishing shots are a typical media convention and are often used to set the scene of the video so the audience has an idea of where the video will take place before the music has started and may also lead them to guess what kind of music will be featured in the video.

Over the shoulder shots are mainly used in videos to tell a story, as it appears as though the audience is viewing the music video like it is an actual film, as these kind of shots tend to be present in music videos where the main narrative, is portrayed by actors and the camera often cuts to the artist singing the song throughout the duration of the video.

ADDED SOUND videos have added sounds to create a sense of atmosphere for example the Katy Perry video has added birds chirping in the background to fit with the suburb stereotype and also the Chris Brown video has the van horn and engine sounds to almost start the song. These effects are quite typical conventions of upbeat and pop like videos as they usually create quite a fun and active. In contrast to this if we were doing a darker more serious video , sounds like rain or even sounds like lightning or crashing noises could completely change the atmosphere in a video. Therefore added sounds can be important

14. ADDED DIOULOGE Also we fount have added dialogue before after or even during the video to add dramatic affect. These either enhance the video or promote the artist. For example in the Chris brown video just by listening to the beginning you will know who the song is by. Also in some videos a script is added to enhance the story and get the music video started. This is quite a popular convention of pop videos targeted at younger audience or a more humorous video as it makes them easier to understand. “BEST PARTY EVER !” “Hey its Chris Brown”

15. Like in many music videos artist like pink, the wanted and pit-bull are all videoed singing along / lip singing to their songs. This is a typical convention of a music video as it usually helps the continuous flow of the song. In contrast to this Yolanda be cool have decided to go against this convention and use a silent comedy theme. By going against the convention it has made the video stand out but for other videos it must have a good story/theme for the video to have the same effect.

16. EDITING

17. Here, a slow dissolve has been used to bring one image into two. Therefore, it switches from one scene to another leaving a remainder of the previous scene. We could use this in our video when switching from one shot to another to show effect. Here, editing has been used through lyrics on the screen. We could use this in different ways in our video including; lyrics to the song or similarly to this one as an introduction to the video such as; the name of the song and who it is by.

18. Here, a different setting has been usedto what it was originally. Therefore, it has been edited in order to make thishappen. Again, this form of editing has been used.

19. Here, a mosaic shot has been used asit shows the same image however, it isdisplayed in four corners in twodifferent angles. This type of shotcould be used in our video by editingfour separate scenes into one. Here, editing has been used as it skips from one scene to a completely different one which givesus the effect of a storyline behind the video.

20. As you can see, this print screen was taken of the video – LMFAO – Party Rock. However, they have included a logo of the most popular words used within the song. Therefore, we could use a logo in our video apposed to the title of the song.
