Day 2 : Newgrange
& The Boyne Valley
Newgrange : Be wowed by one of the finest
examples of a passage grave inWestern Europe.
Built over 5,000 years ago, it is older than
Stonehenge and the Great Pyramid of Giza in
Egypt.5000 years of haunting and ancient Celtic
heritage can be found in the wild countryside of
the midlands and Ancient East.
Knowth & Monasterboice : Knowth, the largest of
the passage graves in the BoyneValley complex.
Knowth contains a third of the total number of
examples of megalithic art in all of Western
Europe; over 200 decorated stones were found
during excavations.The historic ruins
of Monasterboice are of an early Christian
settlement in County Louth in Ireland, north
of Drogheda. It was founded in the late 5th century
by Saint Buithe who died around 521, and was an
important centre of religion and learning.

Glendalough : For thousands of years people
have been drawn to ‘the valley of the two lakes‘
for its spectacular scenery, rich history,

Clonmacnoise : An Early Christian site founded by
St. Ciarán in the mid-6th century on the eastern
bank of the River Shannon.The site includes the
ruins of a cathedral, seven churches (10th -13th
century), two round towers, three high crosses and
the largest collection of Early Christian grave slabs in
Western Europe
Galway City : From the famous 18th century Eyre
square to the winding paths of the Latin Quater
Galway city is has the perfect mix of old meets new.
You can relax between shops sipping coffee on shop
street or take part in one of the many walking tours
offered around the city.The atmosphere on the
streets of Galway is like no other city. Enjoy a private

Connemara: a place of contrasts, colours, wilderness, and

Kylemore Abbey: located in the Kylemore Pass in
Connemara, County Galway, has been home to the Irish
Benedictine nuns since 1920. The Benedictine nuns
bought the house in 1920, having fled their convent in
war-torn Belgium in 1914, where they ran a boarding
school for girls for over 300 years. They re-established the
school here and it is still very much alive today.
