How to Develop the Right MLM Mindset
• It is my personal belief that your attitude will determine your altitude
in life and in business. In the world of network marketing, you must
develop a winning MLM Mindset if you ever want to make it big.
• But, what does this really mean? What is the right MLM Mindset? I
want to give you a few pointers to help you develop the right
mindset, so you can achieve success in your business. Let’s get
started.
# 1 Progress, Not Perfection
• I believe in life-long, constant improvement. I also believe that there
is no such thing as perfection, especially when you involve people.
• Humans are naturally flawed. To think that you can do anything
perfectly on a consistent basis (or ever) is highly unlikely. However,
you can keep making small improvements every single day.
• Over a period of time, those small continuous improvements can pay
huge dividends. This is known as the Slight Edge principle.
# 2 Think Long-Term
• Short-term thinking is a huge problem in America, and throughout the rest of the world.
Few people think past the weekend. That’s why people spend more time planning for
their annual vacation than they do planning for their future.
• One of the major differences between entrepreneurs and employees is the way they
think. Entrepreneurs typically think long-term whereas employees typically think short-
term.
• Successful network marketers have a two to five year plan for their business. Some
even have a 10-year plan. This gives them purpose and direction. Every decision they
make is based off their plan and vision.
• Just because you're a MLM Rep doesn’t make you an entrepreneur. You have to earn that
right. You have to reprogram your mind and get rid of the short-term thinking.
• Nothing worth accomplishing happens overnight. Good things take time. Most
businesses take a couple of years just to get profitable.
• Simply put, I recommend you make a minimum FIVE-YEAR commitment to your network
marketing business before you decide if it is right for you, or not.
# 3 Manage Your Emotions & Expectations
• The MLM World can be an emotional roller coaster. People get
excited that someone might join their business and disappointed
when they don’t.
• You need to learn how to control your emotions. You need to be
constant. You need to detach yourself from what other people say
and do. This was a big challenge for me, since I am naturally an
emotional guy.
• I see so many people join our business excited only to fizzle out 30 to
90-days later. I'd rather sponsor a non-excited person than an excited
person. What goes up must come down.
• You want to be the lighthouse, not the tide.
# 4 Be a Student of Your Business
• You should never stop learning. You must be a student of your
business at all times. You should invest in books, CDs, seminars,
webinars, and conferences every single month.
• You must commit to lifelong learning. Learn everything you can about
your company, the products and the industry. This will help you
separate yourself from your peers.
• At a minimum, read a book a week, listen to a tape a day and attend a
seminar every 90-days. I learned that in Amway and it’s very
powerful.
# 5 Set Goals
• Successful people have WRITTEN goals. Committing your goals to
paper is very powerful. Each year, set goals for the upcoming year.
Once you do that, figure out what you will need to do each month in
order to reach those goals. Then, take your monthly goals and break
them down into daily and weekly action items. This will help keep you
focused.
• If your goal is not specific, written down, and given a deadline, it is
not a goal, it is a fantasy.
# 6 Associate with Winners
• We are who we associate with. If you want to move up the ranks in
your company's compensation plan, one of the best things you can do
is spend time with other successful people in your company.
• Hang out with people who have accomplished what you are trying to
accomplish. Hang out with people who uplift you and encourage you
and bring out the best in you.
• Avoid haters and naysayers at all cost. Remember that who you will
be five years from now will be dictated by the books you read and the
people you spend time with today.
# 7 Stay Plugged In
• Network marketing is a team sport. The people who try to be a lone
ranger and do everything on their own never make it to the top.
• Stay plugged in with your ACTIVE upline. Never miss an event.
Attend all training. Counsel with your upline each month, and follow
the system. Be a product of the system, rather than reinventing the
wheel.

  • 2. How to Develop the Right MLM Mindset • It is my personal belief that your attitude will determine your altitude in life and in business. In the world of network marketing, you must develop a winning MLM Mindset if you ever want to make it big. • But, what does this really mean? What is the right MLM Mindset? I want to give you a few pointers to help you develop the right mindset, so you can achieve success in your business. Let’s get started.
  • 3. # 1 Progress, Not Perfection • I believe in life-long, constant improvement. I also believe that there is no such thing as perfection, especially when you involve people. • Humans are naturally flawed. To think that you can do anything perfectly on a consistent basis (or ever) is highly unlikely. However, you can keep making small improvements every single day. • Over a period of time, those small continuous improvements can pay huge dividends. This is known as the Slight Edge principle.
  • 4. # 2 Think Long-Term • Short-term thinking is a huge problem in America, and throughout the rest of the world. Few people think past the weekend. That’s why people spend more time planning for their annual vacation than they do planning for their future. • One of the major differences between entrepreneurs and employees is the way they think. Entrepreneurs typically think long-term whereas employees typically think short- term. • Successful network marketers have a two to five year plan for their business. Some even have a 10-year plan. This gives them purpose and direction. Every decision they make is based off their plan and vision. • Just because you're a MLM Rep doesn’t make you an entrepreneur. You have to earn that right. You have to reprogram your mind and get rid of the short-term thinking. • Nothing worth accomplishing happens overnight. Good things take time. Most businesses take a couple of years just to get profitable. • Simply put, I recommend you make a minimum FIVE-YEAR commitment to your network marketing business before you decide if it is right for you, or not.
  • 5. # 3 Manage Your Emotions & Expectations • The MLM World can be an emotional roller coaster. People get excited that someone might join their business and disappointed when they don’t. • You need to learn how to control your emotions. You need to be constant. You need to detach yourself from what other people say and do. This was a big challenge for me, since I am naturally an emotional guy. • I see so many people join our business excited only to fizzle out 30 to 90-days later. I'd rather sponsor a non-excited person than an excited person. What goes up must come down. • You want to be the lighthouse, not the tide.
  • 6. # 4 Be a Student of Your Business • You should never stop learning. You must be a student of your business at all times. You should invest in books, CDs, seminars, webinars, and conferences every single month. • You must commit to lifelong learning. Learn everything you can about your company, the products and the industry. This will help you separate yourself from your peers. • At a minimum, read a book a week, listen to a tape a day and attend a seminar every 90-days. I learned that in Amway and it’s very powerful.
  • 7. # 5 Set Goals • Successful people have WRITTEN goals. Committing your goals to paper is very powerful. Each year, set goals for the upcoming year. Once you do that, figure out what you will need to do each month in order to reach those goals. Then, take your monthly goals and break them down into daily and weekly action items. This will help keep you focused. • If your goal is not specific, written down, and given a deadline, it is not a goal, it is a fantasy.
  • 8. # 6 Associate with Winners • We are who we associate with. If you want to move up the ranks in your company's compensation plan, one of the best things you can do is spend time with other successful people in your company. • Hang out with people who have accomplished what you are trying to accomplish. Hang out with people who uplift you and encourage you and bring out the best in you. • Avoid haters and naysayers at all cost. Remember that who you will be five years from now will be dictated by the books you read and the people you spend time with today.
  • 9. # 7 Stay Plugged In • Network marketing is a team sport. The people who try to be a lone ranger and do everything on their own never make it to the top. • Stay plugged in with your ACTIVE upline. Never miss an event. Attend all training. Counsel with your upline each month, and follow the system. Be a product of the system, rather than reinventing the wheel.
  • 10. Key Points • Mindset is everything • The attitude comes before the paycheck • You will be a DIAMOND in your mind before it every manifests into reality • Think BIG • Have a vision for your life and business • Have a personal development plan to improve your mindset daily
