Interviewer: Hello! Lovely to meet you. I’ve been really excited about your music. II haven’t
heard anything like it since the Strokes released “is this it” would you say you have been
influenced at all?
Matt: Cheers! 100%, The Strokes were one of our biggest influences. We love their guitar
sound combined with the rawness and lyrical depth of the Libertines, that’s what we are
going for!
Interviewer: So would you say being from Manchester has shaped your sound then?
Ben; Oh yeah defintely! Growing up here, everyone’s really proud of the
music history of our city and its defintely shapes your taste and also leads you on to other
rock/indie band.
Interviewer; I love Manchester myself, wonderful city. Will you be doing any home coming
gigs after your tour?
Matt: We purposely left Manchester out as we are planning something extra special for our
city! You’ll have to wait and see.
Interviewer; OOOOO any clues? This is an exclusive!
Matt: {laughs} I’m afraid I can so no more yet!
Interviewer; Fair enough! speaking of the tour, can we confirm to our readers where you
will be playing?
Jake: Glasgow, Bristol, London and Birmingham!
Interviewer; Tickets sold out in a matter of minutes, leaving some fans disappointed. Will
you be releasing anymore?
Ben: For this tour, no, as the venues small so once theyre sold out there just isnt anymore
room!
Jake: We like to keep the venues small, as it makes the gigs more intimate and gives the fans
a better experience.
Matt: We love gigging though so nobody has to be disappointed as we dont plan on having a
break from playing for a long time! won’t be long till we’ll be touring again.
Interviewer; That’s the spirit. You faced some harsh critism from your rival band, Catfish and
the bottle men. What do you have to say about this?
2. Matt; We say it’s just them trying to stay relevant and in the headlines ‘cos their music isn’t
good enough to keep them relevant. [rest of the band laughs]
Jake; Let the music speak for itself.
Interviewer; [laughs] you’ve got it. A certain song of yours “New York City” really stood out
to me. Any insight on what it’s about?
Ben; It’s a fast and feel good song. We have songs like daisy that are slow and meaningful,
but New York City’s a brilliant live song, just about the excitment and oppurtunity in New
York. We wrote it when we visted.
Matt; Fans go mad for it live
Interviewer; I love it! It’s my favourite. Do you prefer to play slow or fast songs?
Jake; Gotta have the right mix of both! A few fast ones then a slow one for everyone to just
chill out and sing along for a few minutes, the gigs can get pretty mental, need a break
between the fast ones [laughs]
Interviewer; So when will you be releasing your second album?
Matt; We’re writing bits for it here and there at the minute between touring. But focusing
mainly on the touring at the minute.
Ben; We’re taking a more relaxed approach to the writing of this album. Last time it was a
mad rush, like, we need the last two songs on the album written by Friday! Then panic in the
studio for hours on end. This is time we just churn out the songs if and when the inspiration
hits us [laughs].
Interviewer; Is it true that Matt had a sudden inspiration for a new song five minutes before
you were due on stage in London?
Matt; Yeah! I just had this sudden idea in my head and went with it
Ben; He was scribbling down all these lyrics literally feet away from the stage doors [laughs]
Interviewer; Well I can’t wait to hear that one! Good luck with the tour and the second
album!
All; Cheers!
