20. Since 2016, every year we bring more and more
Portuguese startups to the Web Summit.
We have offered more than 200 tickets for Alpha
startups to pitch at the Web Summit and we organize
boot camps to help them prepare and make the best
of this highly intensive global event.
In 2017, 150 startups attended the Web Summit with
Startup Portugal support.

Helping Portuguese startups grow in new markets
In 2018 we have 25 missions abroad with Portuguese
startups.
We help them prepare to approach a new market and
we provide financial support for internationalisation
22. Supporting the investors
Several co-investment funds were created to lower the risk
of Business Angels and Venture Capital firms that invest in
local startups or move their startups to Portugal:
- In 2017, a public fund to co-invest with BA of €43M was
created. Almost 90 entities applied to co-invest using this
instrument
- In 2017, a public fund to co-invest with VC of €100M was
created. Currently 25 VC funds are eligible to co-invest
using this instrument
- More recently: 200M, a public fund of €200M, was
announced to attract the best private co-investors from all
around the world. Applications will open to invest a
minimum of €500k in startups developing solutions
around Life Sciences, Biotechnology, Tourism, and Industry
4.0 related-technologies.

In 2017 Web Summit we launched the Sign Up for
Portugal platform, where foreign founders, investors
and broader talent considering to relocate or invest in
