Antwerp Art City has created a digital asset management system based on the open source Drupal project ‘Mediamosa’ to manage all media files. This dams communicates with Adlib by the Adlib API to exchange and enrich metadata. But what is a DAMS? What are its strengths and weaknesses? Which opportunities and threats do we face? Some thoughts about the development of dams.antwerpen.be

The objectives of this work were to study a series of advanced aspects that an organization can consider when expose data through an OpenService. I studied the problems relative to the implementation of Added Value Services using the information exposed through an OpenAPI, in particular a complex route planner that combines both timetables and real-time data on the public transport. The exposed information can also be used by a byzantine user to infer whether a service provider is respecting the terms of its SLA. Obviously an organization do not want to expose data that would allow to infer this kind of information; therefore arises the problem of studying what is the right tradeoff that allows to have a sort of protection but, a the same time, maintain the openness of the data. The solution studied for this work have been applied to the real case of OpenTrasporti (a project by the Italian Ministry for Transportation and Infrastructures)

This work is about how both private enterprise and government wish to improve their data value and how they deal with this issue. The talk summarizes the way of thinking about Big Data, Open Data and their use by organizations or individuals. Big Data is explained from collecting, storing, analyzing and put in value. This data is collected from numerous sources including sensor networks, government data holdings, company market databases, and public profiles on social networking sites. Organizations use many data analytical techniques to study both structured and unstructured data. Due to the volume, velocity and variety of data, some specific techniques have been developed. MapReduce, Hadoop and other related as RHadoop are trending topic nowadays. Data which come from government must be open. Every day more and more cities and countries are opening their data. Open Data is then presented as a specific case of public data with a special role in Smartcity. The main goal of Big and Open Data in Smartcity is to develop systems which can be useful for citizens. In this sense RMap (Mapa de Recursos) is shown as an Open Data application, an open system for Madrid City Council, avalaible for smarthphones and totally developed by the researching group G-TeC (www.tecnologiaUCM.es).

This talk showcases PACKED vzw's linked open data-projects on persistent identification, opening up data, data enrichment and the potential of the Wikimedia ecosystem BUT also the areas where the Wikimedia platforms and its present tools could be improved. We make an argument for attracting more people with an IT background in the cultural sector, better open infrastructures and tools that make linked open data publishing and reuse possible: resolvers, datahubs, api tools - tools for publication of data and images: specific tools for mix’n match, tools which can deal with what heritage professionals have already produced (excel files). Lastly we encourage the public to solicit the heritage sector and create demand for LOD services ‘as if’ you already live in a society where citizens can take access to digital cultural resources for granted and as if you have no idea about the contradictions that cause institutions to delay opening up their collections.

You are interested in the cloud offerings of vendors and what benefits they provide and if a similar solution would not be possible on-premises. This presentation deals with this and other questions. Starting from a vendor-independent reference architecture and corresponding design patterns, different cloud solutions from various vendors are compared and rated. Additionally, it will be shown how such solution could be implemented on-premises and how a hybrid IoT solution could look like.

Foundation models are machine learning models which are easily capable of performing variable tasks on large and huge datasets. FMs have managed to get a lot of attention due to this feature of handling large datasets. It can do text generation, video editing to protein folding and robotics. In case we believe that FMs can help the hospitals and patients in any way, we need to perform some important evaluations, tests to test these assumptions. In this review, we take a walk through Fms and their evaluation regimes assumed clinical value. To clarify on this topic, we reviewed no less than 80 clinical FMs built from the EMR data. Data spaces in distributed environments should be allowed to evolve in agile ways providing data space owners with large flexibility about which data they store. Agility and heterogeneity, however, jeopardize data exchanges because representations may build on varying ontologies and data consumers may not rely on the semantic correctness of their queries in the context of semantically heterogeneous, evolving data spaces. Graph data spaces are one example of a powerful model for representing and querying data whose semantics may change over time. To assert and enforce conditions on individual graph data spaces, shape languages (e.g SHACL) have been developed. We investigate the question of how querying and programming can be guarded by reasoning over SHACL constraints in a distributed setting and we sketch a picture of how a future landscape based on semantically heterogeneous data spaces might look like.
