The City of Stillwater, Oklahoma, has seen tremendous growth in the dining and retail services as well as the addition of multifamily developments. Here is an overview of the commercial developments our city welcomed in 2016 and 2017.

- We do this each year to highlight the recent developments in Stillwater Usually do it at the beginning of the year This map shows the locations of the major developments in the city in the last 2 years. Blue – Dining; Pink – Retail; Green – Housing; and Orange – Other Note the major cluster of development in the core part of the city, more infill and redevelopment, less development on the edges of the city. Note development on N Perkins Rd
- Blue: Food Pink: Shopping Note: Raising Cane’s, Five Guys, Sam’s, Wendy’s, Del Rancho, Food Truck to restaurants, D’s, Golden Chick, The Well Note: Academy, Walmart NM, Atwoods, Stillwater Mills, O’Reilly’s
- Green: Residential Orange: Other Note: New Fraternities/Sororities, Midtown, One on 4th, Mockingbird Estates, Executive Homes, Ideal Homes, The Ranch Note: SMC 6th Ave, OSU, Our Daily Bread, Teen Challenge, Aspen Dental, Westwood School, Air Service
- Downtown is still very strong. BID was not renewed. Interest in renewing it. Momentum on Block 34 and Creation of the Downtown Stillwater Cultural District: Partnership between city (library, community center), OSU (Center for the Arts, Museum of Art), Sheerar Museum, and Modella Gallery Note: Red Rock Deli, Tombstone Saloon, Book store, Balanced Coffee, Coworking Center
- Selection of new development. There has been much going on in the city, and I couldn’t possibly cover it all.
- New housing. 101 total permits The Canyons, Tradan Heights, Berry Creek, Sawgrass, Teal Ridge, Woodland Trails, Oakdale Park All existing plats finishing up inventory. 1 major preliminary plat, but it expired. So no large subdivisions coming, just finishing up what was started.
- Residential construction over the past 16 years Still pretty busy. Not nearly as busy as the boom years, but improvement over the recession years. Majority are being built by Ideal Homes – and they are here to stay Major development in apartments
- This chart is the value, adjusted for inflation, of the commercial developments A lot of large projects are under construction right now. Which is great news. The bad news is that the amount projects under review is likely to lead to further decline for 2018 And we have seen a number of business closures again this year – most are being quickly replaced
