2. History of MEOW
The Mobile Energy Operations Wagon is what represents renewable energy.
Transforming one source of energy into another. The MEoOW first got
introduced to the CCATers in 2003 which will be used continuously to provide
energy for events. Then in 2010 MEOW was leant for use by a construction
company and was soon stolen. The vandals who had made the decision to steal a
trailer were in luck to find it filled with valuables and they didn't even reconsider
leaving anything behind. So when MEOW was returned to the driveway of CCAT
they had a clean slate. Some initial problems that the team had was figuring a
new battery system/enclosure, and it being functional and easy to learn. But a
major problem was finding the funding for MEOW. Luckily the teams that have
put in some effort for this project have not let that become an excuse. Luckily
with donations and fundraising the team was able to fulfill the original demands
of the MEOW and even made some advantages with some updates throughout
its years.
3. What makes it purr
- Four bikes transforming kinetic energy into AC
- Solar panels on the roof of the trailer, converting solar
energy to AC
4. Project Update
As of today MEOW was last known to be used for CCAT's
Mayday in 2019 and it was a success. Some of its most recent
updates include new batteries, a new battery enclosure, an
extra bike for producing more energy, and a fresh new coat of
paint. Although MEOW sits in the driveway there is still some
components that work. The rig itself stopped properly
functioning some time in June, but it’s thought to just be a
problem with one of the batteries. It’s currently undergoing
aesthetic modifications, with a mural on the inside of the
trailer, and one planned for the outside.
