Peregrine’s Valley:
With twigs in her hair, Peregrine climbed higher and higher. It must have been an hour
past noon and who knew how much longer she had to climb. It seemed close but she was
moving slower than at the start.
Maybe this hill goes on forever, she thought, all the way to Heaven.
Pilgrimage:
Pilgrimage is the kind of town you pass through on your way to somewhere else. Nobody
ever stays there more than a day, except for the hundred or so residents. It's dusty and far
from the highway, for one. There are railroad tracks but they don't go anywhere anymore.
The only movement on the main street is a creaking diner sign hanging on rusty old
chains. And yet, in spite of all that, that same heat-cracked road is where Brandon found
himself stranded for almost a week.

Chapter Two:
There is enough terror in the daytime without Travis hearing about what goes on at night. Like the
sound the owls make. Sarah hates the owls. When undead birds sing, there’s no music in it.
There’s just a low, long whistle like they’re deflating. Sarah thinks that the night owls sound
sadder than anything she’s ever known.
Chapter Twelve
My earliest memories of my father were of him being away a lot on a case in Anchorage.
He was a state trooper called out there to investigate a high occurrence of young
prostitutes being raped and murdered. My parents never told me about this, of course,
until I was fifteen, but I remember Mom being really afraid that Dad wouldn’t come
home during those days.

Endorsements for editing
“Very quick service and I'm more than satisfied with quality of the editing, definitely will
be coming back with more work.”
- Miisa Lopperi, author and illustrator of Gore: Honour and Brains
"Clint can polish a turd so hard it'll turn into a delicious, chocolate cupcake. I'm still
amazed by what my first-draft novel used to be, and then what it became. Clint was the
voice of reason; incredibly patient, and painfully honest."
- Justin Pereira, author of Monsters in California

Downloaded this to read on a 6 hour red eye. MAN did it make time fly. Every new story
kept me entranced, like the hours just melted away. I get really absorbed in books, but in
general I'll put down a full novel to take a brief break now and then (especially to sleep).
Not in this case! I had to stay awake to read the next story. Then the next. I can't even
choose a favorite chapter because so many stick in my mind. The bit with Tiny Robot
Archimedes and his journeys across the ocean. Or the cackling madman in the bathroom.
And the story with the girl traversing the hill with her fox buddy.
Seriously pick this up and read just a story or two, at least. It's all pretty gold. Or at least
really, really entertaining.

I normally don't read Zombie books but I loved this one. I really enjoyed the different
story twist this one took. And I got very involved in the characters. Can't wait to read his
next book.
