Notes de l'éditeur
Welcome to this presentation of Pathways
The new, modernized education program for Toastmasters
As an Ambassador for Pathways,
My Goal today is to:
Deliver a timeline to you
Share with you what I know about Pathways
Give you tips for more information
1970s -
The Sony walkman was introduced; black rotary dial phones in the United States went colorful
Women who had used secret names like Homer and Wally
were allowed to officially join Toastmasters
AND
The current Toastmasters education program was introduced.
(The one we are using today.)
The learning device back then? Paper
Our learning device today? Still Paper
Maybe it is Time for modernization.
The assessment recommends one of 10 paths that is right for you
The paths are based on five disciplines:
Ralph Smedley, our founder, had a vision for five disciplines
Public Speaking
Interpersonal Communication
Leading and Managing
Leading Strategically
Building Confidence
These disciplines are the foundation for new, specialized paths.
Welcome to this presentation of Pathways
The new, modernized education program for Toastmasters
As an Ambassador for Pathways,
My Goal today is to:
Deliver a timeline to you
Share with you what I know about Pathways
Give you tips for more information
What does this mean for you:
* Meetings stay the same
* Distinguished club program continues even with Pathways
* No permanent end to current program until the end of 2019
* Once our region starts the program
* Current members can switch over to Pathways,
New members go directly to Pathways once it arrives
Let’s get a feel for Pathways:
Why the delay for our rollout?
Language - Translations –
Our region has the most languages to translate
8 languages – When our region rolls out the program is available in 8 languages.
That alone means we needed a change and modernization
This is me in Tanzania
last summer walking to the Shira Plateau of Kilimanjaro
That was my goal
An example of what we do today in the connected world:
We track our fitness
Measure our progress
Keep ourselves motivated
We have goals: be stronger, healthier, learn a skill
We are using apps and online platforms every day –
That’s what Pathways is about
Tracking
Measuring
Motivating
Will you Start with Base Camp on the Toastmasters website
Take an online assessment at the beginning of your journey
