I was first drawn to Emergency Management from my personal experiences on September 11, 2001. On that day I was serving in the US Army in Stuttgart, GE. I observed many co-workers watching AFN with the replay of the fallen towers playing over and over in awe. The later effects of that day resulted in emphasis on communication that increased situational awareness and collaboration. I have made those two aspects central to any action I do within an organization. A holistic view of planning is needed to make contingency plans. Each attempt in preparing for an event that is unknown is worthwhile and needed in every organization.
