The Scott & White BCS Marathon has grown significantly since starting in 2011 as a fundraiser. Registration has increased from 1,731 runners in 2011 to over 4,000 runners in 2013. The race has raised over $370,000 for local charities. A survey after the 2013 race found that over 70% of runners planned to return and over 40% stayed in local hotel rooms, spending an estimated total of $713,000 in the community. Within just three years, the marathon has become the highest rated in Texas.
