*Note: Registrations are only an indicator of business formation and do not represent actual new businesses. For example, a registration may be filed to
reserve a business name or for other reasons in advance of a potential business. Dissolutions, surrenders and withdrawals do not include mergers,
consolidations, reinstatements and other changes that may lead to a loss of a business. In addition, not all businesses that close make a filing.

ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT NEWS
COLUMBUS 2020 MONTHLY UPDATE | JUNE 2014
TRANSPORTATION & INFRASTRUCTURE POLICY & ADVOCACYCOLUMBUS REGION IN THE NEWS
Ohio economic development is "killing it", especially
Columbus
In 2013, JobsOhio helped 258 companies expand, created
17,857 new jobs and added $3.6 billion in capital
investment. The momentum is carrying through into 2014
as the active project pipeline is the largest it has ever been.
Columbus in particular is expanding its global footprint
with recent major wins including Amerijet International Inc.
and Cathay Pacific Airways.

New #lifeincbus campaign aims to lure Millennials to
Columbus
Experience Columbus launched a new external marketing
campaign that targets a young audience in Washington
D.C. and Chicago, where relocation potential is high, that
includes billboards and advertisements online, in metro
stations and in high-rise elevators. http://bit.ly/1kTXsQF
ForgeX to bring the next big thing in Columbus tech
Columbus investor and startup mentor Victor Thorne is
leading a Central Ohio tech alliance that will tackle projects
too risky for large corporations to build in-house - but may
put those corporations at the forefront of disruptive
change in their industries. http://bit.ly/1zpffUO

Task force created to focus on airport
opportunities
Mayor Michael B. Coleman has selected a group of
public and private stakeholders to serve on the
Jobs, Expansion and Transportation (JET) Task
Force and evaluate making Port Columbus a
regional transportation hub. The task force is
charged with developing a plan to expand
economic development, spur job growth and
increase direct flights to and from the Columbus
Region.
The JET Task Force will issue a report of its
findings in the fall of 2014.

COTA plans to redo their service map
Central Ohio Transit Authority (COTA) is working
with Jarrett Walker & Associates to adjust their
existing service lines. The proposed changes will add
more high frequency routes and increase efficiency
by eliminating less popular routes.
The proposed changes would provide twice as many
residents access to 15 minute service and help grow
ridership. Creating a simpler, faster and more user-
friendly bus system will create a more transit-friendly
city and improve access to several employment
areas.
