PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
GENTEX CORPORATION (Zeeland, Michigan) – October 1991 to December 2015. Gentex Corporation (Nasdaq
GNTX) is a publicly held, high-tech global automotive, fire protection and aerospace manufacturing company.
Gentex has organically grown its high-margin business from $27 millionin annual sales in 1991 to over $1.3 billion
in annual sales in 2015 (CAGR of ~ 20 percent) and has over 4,000 employeesglobally.
Served as a key contributor in a broad role as the Company’s lead Investor Relations officer since 1991, and also
responsible for all aspects of corporate communications. Provided proactive, comprehensive oversight of the
Company's investor relations (IR) and corporate communications strategies and plans globally, with unquestionable
integrity. From 1991 to 2013, also was responsible for global automotive product marketing support and materials.
Gentex’s flatmanagement structure required working managers who wore many hats and had relativelybroad areas
of responsibility. Team player with abilityto navigate withindifferentareas of the company.
 1991 to 1994: Public and Investor Relations Manager, reporting to the Executive Vice President – Was the first
member of the Investor Relations/Corporate Communications team, and developed the department practices
and policies.
 1994 to 1998: Director of Investor Relations and Corporate Communications and Corporate Secretary, reporting
to the Executive Vice President – Promoted and named Corporate Secretary in 1994.
 1998 to June 2013 -- Vice President of Investor Relations and Corporate Communications and Corporate
Secretary, reporting to the Chairman of the Board and Chief Executive Officer – Promoted to Vice President.
 June 2013 to December 2015 – Investor Relations Consultant -- Provided guidance and consulted with Gentexf
senior management on investor relations as required.
Responsibilities
 Developed and managed all investor relations (IR), corporate communications and disclosure practices for the
Company. Responsible for managing these functions and developing appropriate communications in support of
the Company’s goals and objectives, through significant downturns and upturns in the cycli cal automotive
industry, and the financial markets in general. This experience has been an important contributor to my ability
to make informed, objective decisions for the Company.
∞ Team player with abilityto interact with company executivesand managers.
∞ Served as one of three members of the Company’s Disclosure Committee.
∞ Responsible for ensuring that the Company’s IR and communication practices and procedures comply with
all relevant laws and Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and market-related regulations.
 Communicated regularly as the Company’s primary public spokesperson on all issues, but primarily with
institutional investors and sell-side analysts, with detailed financial and operating insight, and product and
technology information and updates.

∞ Excellentreputation and well respected on Wall Street, and have a good rapport witha large and diverse existing
network of buy- and sell-side analysts and institutional investors, who have a variety of investment objectives.
(While Gentex supplies high-tech products primarily to the auto industry, the vast majority of the Company’s
shareholders are generalists and do not hold the shares in automotive-related funds.) The Company is followed
by over a dozen sell-side analysts and over 90 percent of its shares are held by institutional investors.
∞ Determined key messages and scripted how information should be communicated publicly on all issues,and
especially for documents such as the quarterly conference call comments, IR slide deck, and all Company
news releases.
 Developed/maintained responsible and consistent communication with current and potential investors and
analysts, consistently and accurately portraying the Company’s current and long-term performance and
prospects, while ensuring that the Company’s business and financial strategy was properly understood by Wall
Street and that expectations were aligned with the Company’s guidance and strategy.
 Organized/prioritized the Company’s participation and attendance in investor conferences, presentations and
“non-deal road shows”, and effectively targeted existing and potential high-volume purchasers of the
Company’s stock.
∞ Participation in those events and related 1:1 meetings with investors was primarily limited to the IR Vice
President and CFO.
 Responsible for corporate governance (CG) and communication of those practices. Served as a resource to
the Board on CG issues and made recommendations for changes to the Company’s practices as appropriate.
 Responsible for all aspects of proxy solicitation, including drafting proxy documents and annual report in
conjunction with SEC counsel, and coordinated the printing and distribution of those documents.
∞ Proactively worked with proxy solicitor to head off any anticipated voting issues,and engaged shareholders
as appropriate.
 Provided proactive guidance to the CEO and Board of Directors regarding investor perceptions and associated
risks and implications related to key business issues.
 Competitive Intelligence: was the point person at the Company for competitive intelligence on the Company’s
current and would-be competitors, requiring a broad understanding of the Company’s business as well as the
technologies employed in the Company’s existingand prospective products.
 Responsible for all communications with the Board of Directors
∞ Attended all Board and Nominating Committee meetings.
 Developedmaterials to be presented at Board meetings.
∞ Developedmaterials for newboard member orientation, and worked with Nominating Committee Chairman
and Lead Director to identifypotential new board members.
 Responsible for overall global Corporate Communications for the Company, and reviewed/approved any
material that was intended to be (or that could become) distributed to the public, including customer, product
and technology marketing and advertising materials (website, benchmarking, videos, social media, research and
customer presentations). Served as company liaison with public relations consultants globally. Responsible
for automotive product marketing support and materials from 1991 – 2011.
 Monitored/evaluated the Company’s shareholder base and relevant changes, and reported to the CEO and
Board as appropriate.

 Monitored shareholder activism and provided proactive guidance to the Company’s CEO and Board with
appropriate responses in light of the Company’s existing and former relationships with those investors.
Engaged those investors as appropriate.
∞ Provided Board/executives/officers and key department heads with periodic updates regarding investor
perceptions, analyst ratings and consensus, and company responses to each.
∞ Worked with executives and key department heads to educate employees on insider trading issues and
appropriate business conduct.
 Routinely involved in legal matters, including any actions related to new Company inventions, strategic
business planning, product liability, SEC inquiries, potential acquisitions and patent and patent-infringement
issues.

 Excellent oral and written communication skills,and able to multi-task and quickly acclimate to and understand
new material. Interest and strong aptitude in understanding new technologies and advances, as well as legal
requirements and concepts.

 Was featured in a full-page section of Automotive News as one of the four top investor relations officers in the
automotive sector.
SEYFERTH & ASSOCIATES (Grand Rapids, Michigan) – 1984 – 1991: Seyferth & Associates (now SeyferthPR) was a
full-service public relations firm. J served as the Senior Account Executive and helped start and grow the investor
relations practice, and provided investor relations services to various public companies, including Gentex
Corporation.
GRAND VALLEY STATE UNIVERSITY (Allendale, Michigan) – 1988 – 1991: Adjunct professor in the School of
Communications, teaching required introductory communications courses as well as required senior-level writing
courses.
EDUCATION: 1988 Graduate of Grand Valley State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Advertising
and Communications, with an emphasis in engineeringscience.
