voice of millions of African-Americans and catalysed the protest
against racism.
This song, recorded and re-recorded by artists have been given
several awards over time and remains one of the most revolutionary
piece of poetry ever.
The title of the song is inspired from the grotesque and uncanny
image of lynched bodies hanging from trees- a euphemism
commonly used to represent racial violence against Black
community.
