Initiative to Offer Sustainability and Social Enterprise
MONTGOMERY, Ala.—Re-Invention is an initiative to help create opportunities and
social enterprise for the most vulnerable in our society by providing education, life-skills training,
support and job skill development. Re-Invention strives to build economic sustainability which
enables ministries and organizations to get on with the process of transforming the lives of the
people they are working alongside.
“We are passionate about freedom and believe that work is freedom for the millions who
have gifts to contribute to our world from which we all can benefit and learn, yet are prisoners of
poverty,” Kelly Guthrie, owner and founder of Re-Invention.
G.E.A.R. (Go! Everyone, Everywhere and Re-Invent), a project of Re-Invention, is based
around the idea of reinventing the community we live in. Handbags and home accents begin
with up-cycled, coffee bean sacks paired with remnant and re-cycled fabrics. These fabrics
paired with the rawness of the sacks come together to create something truly beautiful and one-
of-a-kind.
