INSIGHTS
FROM
INCOMING
COMMISSION
CHAIR
Think
about
your
favorite
thing.
That
thing
that
when
you
see
it,
watch
it,
hear
it,
smell
it,
experience
it,
makes
you
feel
bigger
and
stronger,
happier
or
cooler.
Smarter.
That
single
thing
that
can
change
the
way
you
feel
about
yourself
and
the
world
you
live
in.
For
me
it’s
Columbus.
I
was
born
here.
I
was
raised
here.
My
family
lives
here.
My
partner
moved
here.
I
love
it
here.
I
love
Columbus
like
I
love
early
mornings
or
reading
books.
I
like
Chicago.
I
like
Portland.
But
I
love
Columbus.
It’s
a
great
place
to
call
home.
It’s
a
great
place
to
be
you.
Columbus
is
on
the
verge
of
the
next
level
of
greatness.
The
Create
Columbus
Commission
is
an
acGve
partner
in
making
Columbus
the
best
place
in
the
naGon
to
live,
work
and
to
raise
a
family.
We
are
a
group
of
successful,
diverse,
and
creaGvely-‐
brained
YPs
who
can,
and
will,
have
an
impact
on
the
future
of
Columbus.
As
you’ve
read
throughout
this
report,
2013
was
a
great
year
and
there
has
build
significant
momentum
gained
going
into
2014:
• Created
and
executed
the
city’s
first
grant
program
for
projects
and
iniGaGves
by
and
for
central
Ohio
YPs
• Approved
and
implemented
a
new
set
of
by-‐
laws
that
govern
our
body
• Streamlined
our
communicaGon
strategy
for
greater
effecGveness
and
wider
reach
• Celebrated
the
tenure
and
dedicated
leadership
of
the
longest
serving
commissioner,
Kate
Christobek.
And
that’s
just
the
beginning.
2014
is
going
to
be
the
year
that
brings
the
commission
and
Columbus
closer
to
greatness.
We
will:
• Place
more
commissioners
and
YPs
on
local
boards
• Elevate
the
profile
and
influence
of
the
commission
• Communicate
with
our
stakeholders
on
a
regular
basis
• Increase
the
impact
of
our
grants
program
by
offering
more
funds
and
supporGng
even
more
programs
and
iniGaGves
• Build
strategic
partnerships
throughout
the
region
• ConGnue
to
love
this
great
city
We
are
proud
of
what
we’ve
done.
And
we
are
excited
about
what
we
are
going
to
do.
If
you
have
any
quesGons,
please
feel
free
to
reach
out
to
me,
or
any
of
the
