2. Function of Nutrition:
Digestive system In charge of digestion
Respiratory system In charge of breathing
Circulatory system Transports nutrients
Excretory system In charge of excretion
4. The Digestive System:
Digestion is the process in
which food changes into
nutrients. It takes place in
the Digestive System which
has two parts:
The Digestive Tract: Its
parts are the mouth, the
pharynx, the oesophagus,
the stomach, the small
intestine and the large
intetsine.
Glands: They release
chemicals. They are the
salivary glands, the liver
and the pancreas.
5. Breathing:
It´s the process where the body takes in
oxygen and releases carbon dioxide.
Lung ventilation: Inhaling is when air goes
into the lungs. Exhaling sends air out of the
lungs.
Exchange of gases: Oxygen breathed in goes
to the blood and the carbon dioxide from the
blood moves to the lungs
7. Parts of the Respiratory System:
1. Nostrils
2. Pharynx
3. Larynx
4. Trachea
5. Bronchi
6. Lungs
7. Diaphragm
8. Excretion and the excretory system:
It´s the elimination of the waste substances collected. The
excretory system is made up of:
Sweat glands
The Urinary system: made up of Kidneys and Urinary
Tract.
1. Kidneys
2. Ureters
3. Bladder
4. Urethra
9. Circulation and the Circulatory
System:
Circulaton is the
transportation of blood
through the circulatory
system carrying nutrients
and oxygen to all the cells
and collecting waste
substances. It´s made up
of:
Heart
Blood
Blood Vessels: Arteries,
Veins and Capillaries
10.
11. Blood:
Blood is a red liquid tissue made up of cells that float in a nutritious liquid
called plasma.
Blood plasma
Blood cells: -Red blood cells
-White blood cells
-Platelets
12. The heart
It’s divided into two cavities:
-Atrium
-Ventricle
It uses rhythmic systole and
diastole movements to pump
blood:-Systole
-Diastole
The heart has two atria and two
ventricles. The veins meet at the
atria. The arterias leave from the
ventricles. The heart pumps blood
using systole an diastole.
13. Human circulation
Pulmonary circulation: The blood
with carbon dioxide comes out of
the right ventricle through the
PULMONARY ARTERY. It picks
up oygen in the ALVEOLI OF THE
LUNGS and it reaches the left
atrium through the PULMONARY
VEINS.
Systemic circulation: The blood
with oxygen leaves the left ventricle
through the AORTA and distributes
to all the cells through the BLOOD
CAPILLARIES. It returns to the
heart through the VENA CAVA.
