What is ransomware?
• Ransomware is a malicious form of software
• It is used to target potentially valuable and precious
computer files
• The software is designed to gain access to business IT
systems and then encrypt them so that they become
inaccessible to their owners
• Ransomware attackers then demand payments in return for
a code that should be the key to then release the encrypted
files
3. sca-group.co.uk
How does it work?
• Ransomware is designed to be stealthy and to sneak unnoticed onto
a computer or an IT infrastructure
• Gaining access via malicious advertisements, a hijacked website or
infected email
• Usually the ransomware will sit for while on a target system before
striking and encrypting files
• The encryption process is complicated, typically the only way to
unlock files that have been encrypted is to pay the ransom
• So prevention is much, much better than cure when it comes to
ransomware attacks

Who gets targeted by ransomware?
• Anyone can be targeted by a ransomware attack – not only
big businesses
• SMEs are often considered good targets for ransomware
because they have a lot to lose and potentially less robust IT
security than their larger counterparts
• The amounts demanded by ransomware attackers may be
smaller for smaller businesses but the relative impact of the
costs involved can be much greater

Making payments
• Ransomware attackers typically want ransoms to be paid in
Bitcoins
• Bitcoins are a form of digital currency which are very difficult
to trace
• Demands for a ransomware payment will usually come with a
strict deadline and timeframe
• Non-payment can result in your files being deleted and
rendered completely unrecoverable
• Making a payment does not guarantee the return of your files

Protecting yourself against ransomware
• Anti-virus software – a quality internet security system can
protect your computers and files but not with absolute
reliability
• External hard drives – Storing important files externally can
protect them from ransomware but this method is only as
good as your ability to remember to back up your files
regularly – hard drives themselves can also be accessed by
ransomware attackers
• Cloud back up – This is by far the most reliable and effective
means of protecting yourself against ransomware attacks

Finding the right solutions
• We at SCA can advise you on how best to protect yourself
against ransomware attacks
• Cloud-based back up solutions are available for small,
medium and large-scale businesses and for anyone
concerned about their data security
• Cloud options require upfront costs but offer the only
guarantee of effective protection against ransomware attacks

Attract their dream clients and turn them into paying clients and I do this by drawing upon my 20+ years sales and marketing experience
Charge what they are worth
Take away their self-doubt, confusion and overwhelm
Clear strategy and a rock solid plan so they know the next best step to take
Get results they want. The first thing I do with my clients is to focus on what they want to get as a result of working with me.
For Some business owners it’s around getting more clients, some its increasing their prices and bringing in more money. I’ve worked with coaches and helped them to bring in a million pounds in revenue in a 12 month period and othesr 50K 100K 200K. Some clients want to focus in other areas: presenting, being visible on social media, planning, creating and running a live event, creating their first online programme and selling it.
It’s not always about the money but it is about the result.
