• Great Britain comprises
England , Scotland and Wales
• Located between Ireland and Main Europe
• 25% overall area is used for cultivation and 12 %
of area is covered with forest
• Climate - Frequent cloud and rain

4. History of food
• It is been always multicultural
• Ancient times influenced by Romans and Medieval
time by French.
• The Saxons (central and northern Germany) were
excellent farmers , they cultivated varieties of herbs
(5th century)
• The Vikings and Danes(from Scandinavian) brought the
techniques of drying and smoking. (8th -11th century)
• When the Frankish Normans member of Viking settled
in France)invaded, they brough the spices of east - like
saffron, mace and cinnamon. Sugar also came in this
time (11th century )
• From east Asia (China) they adopted tea and from India
they adopted curry style.(1858-1947)
