3. The actress’s names are
above the other actress’s
body.This emphasises the
swapped roles.
The title ‘Freaky Friday’
is in a font style which is
funky and fun.This
shows that the film itself
will be fun and shows
the audience the film
isn’t a ‘serious’ film.The
actress’s names are also
slightly off, some letters
are slightly bigger or
smaller than others and
they aren’t straight they
are in a waved pattern.
This could suggest that
the narrative has some
ups and downs
The coloured background
is split in half by the
colours green and pink.
This split in the poster
represents the swapped
lives.The colours
themselves are both light
and fun but the pink links
to a teenage whereas the
green links to an adult
personality.
The image show the
characters facial
expressions which look
confused and shocked.
This represents that
something confusing and
shocking will happen in
the film.
The red hair on the two
characters gives the
impression that the two
characters are related
The clothing the characters are
wearing, especially on the older
women this suggest straight away
that something is not right.
4. The tagline ‘every teenagers
nightmare…turning into her
mother’ suggests that a
‘nightmare’ happens.
Nightmares aren’t real therefore
the tagline plus the image
underneath suggests that
something ‘out of this world’
happens to the teenager and her
mother.
All together the poster
represents and suggest that
the film is a teen film.At the
bottom of the poster ‘Walt
Disney Pictures’ can be
seen. Disney is know for
making teen films therefore
just by seeing that people
would assume that it is a
film for children and
teenagers.
The poster works with the
trailer because they both
focus on the main characters,
outfits seen in the trailer are
in the poster and similar fonts
are used when it comes to the
titles therefore they work
together. Both the trailer and
the poster put across that the
film is a teen movie.
5. How is this useful for my own planning
production?
I have taken from this that:
• -Posters can be simple and effective.
• Linking simple things such as fonts and colours mean that the trailer and poster will
work well together and effectively put the genre across to the audience.
• Certain parts of a posters have set places. For example taglines go at the top and
billing blocks go at the bottom.
