6. WHAT ABOUT SOME TIPS?
AS YOU WANT TO FIND A GOOD
BALANCE IN YOUR DIGITAL
CONSUMPTION, YOU MIGHT BE EAGER
TO TAKE AWAY THESE 9 TIPS
7. NIGHT
Don’t turn a good night’s rest in an
overload of not so urgent notifications. And
if not possible to disconnect for the night,
you can only allow certain contacts to get
alerts from.
8. OLD FASHION
Decide which ‘old fashion’ tools you
activate again to reduce the usage of
digital devices; alarm clock, watch, kitchen
clock, newspaper, book, write on paper,
walk to your colleague instead of using
email, ...
9. TOILET
Do take your digital device to the toilet. It
can be a perfect time killer and you can
upgrade this moment without disturbing
others.
10. PUSH TO
FETCH
Switch notification settings from a push
modus to fetching your emails, messaging
alerts and social media intruders. From
now on you are in control again instead of
the other way around.
11. COUNT
Count the hours of going digital on
different devices. Start reducing them by
the minutes on a daily base. You’ll be
surprised to cut back to 50%.
12. OFFLINE
Communicate to others your detox
intentions. So start by agreeing on the
terms and conditions: when are you
connected, and when do they have to
respect the offline timeslots.
13. RESTAURAN
T
People go to restaurants to enjoy the food.
And to enjoy to ones that are seated at the
same table. So all this deserves your full
attention. And leave your digital
belongings at the front door.
14. FORGET
And of course the worst nightmare of all
digital detox…you leave the house and
deliberately forget your phone. For sure
the first minutes are a true disaster. But
you will be astonished. Come on, dare
devil, give it a try!
15. BUDDY
Find yourself a detox buddy. Things are
always easier when you team up with
someone.
