Klarman, Michael. "Why Gay Marriage Is Inevitable." Los Angeles Times. 12 Feb 2012: A.27. SIRS
Issues Researcher. Web. 20 March 2012.
This article discusses why same-sex marriage is inevitable and will eventually be legalized in all
states. Klarman compares the statistics of today vs. previous year’s polls on same-sex marriage
to show how same-sex marriage is becoming more accepted than it used to be. He also uses
connections between people to reason why more people are becoming more accepting of same-
sex marriage.
I feel this article is useful for my research because the arguments that Klarman makes are
realistic and logical. It isn’t so much an opinionated article as it is an informative article.
Klarman states the reasons why same-sex marriage is inevitable. You really can’t disagree with
his argument because it is logical and factual.

Coontz, Stephanie. "Gay Marriage Isn't Revolutionary. It's Just Next." Washington Post. 09 Jan
2011: B.5. SIRS Issues Researcher. Web. 20 March 2012.
In this article Coontz explains why same-sex marriage is just next and not revolutionary. Coontz
uses history to support her claim. She uses history of how the definition of marriage has changed
through the years to argue that the legalization of same-sex marriage in all states will not be
“revolutionary” because the views and legalization of marriage is always changing.
I am using this article for my research because this article gives proof of how the viewing and
meaning of marriage is always evolving and changing, which helps my argument for why same-
sex marriage should be legalized in all states.

Olson, Theodore B. "The Conservative Case for Gay Marriage." Newsweek Vol. 155, No. 3. 18 Jan
2010: n.p. SIRS Issues Researcher. Web. 20 March 2012.
In this article Olsen explains the reasoning of why he supports same-sex marriage even though
he is a conservative. He also gives valid reasons as to why homosexuals should have the right to
marry and how not having that right is not living up to the promise of equality. Olsen gives many
responses as to why so many arguments against same-sex marriage are not logical and valid.
I use this article in my research because not only does he explain why same-sex marriage not
being legalize is unconstitutional and not right, he shows the many arguments against same sex-
marriage and why they are not politically or constitutionally valid.

Sullivan, Andrew. "Why Gay Marriage Is Good for Straight America." Newsweek. 25 Jul 2011: n.p.
SIRS Issues Researcher. Web. 04 May 2012.
This article is a commentary on supporting same-sex marriage, though Sullivan does add his own
story of his struggle with being homosexual and finding live, love and happiness when he didn’t
think he ever would. Sullivan argues that homosexuals should have the same right as everyone
else to marry. He claims that being gay is no longer about being an outsider it is about being an
American.
This article is being used in my research because many of the points that Sullivan makes tie into
my reasoning for why same-sex marriage should be legalized.
