person to another or from one place to another
by air, by inanimate objects or by direct contact
among people. Therefore:
• Avoid holding soiled linen against uniform
• Never shake linen
• Always wash hands before going to another
patient.

– fold and place on chair
• Soak and rinse linen soiled with feces or blood
before placing in hamper
• Make sure no pads, personal articles or anything
besides linen is placed in hamper

• Making bed with patient IN the bed
• Many patient have a condition that raquires staying in bed; such
patients must have a change of bed linens daily
• When a patient is cofined to bed continuously, comfort is very
important
• Soiled or wrinkled linens cause presure areas and irritate the skin
• Making occupied bed requires more time and effort, so attention
should be given to the body mechanics of both patient and nurse
cover the patient with a bath blanket
• The bed is ussally made inmediatelly following the patient´s bed bath.

Asist patient to move to the side of the bed nearest you,
if you are alone you must raise siderail
