Even if they can’t read high-value encrypted traffic today, they are recording and storing for when they can decrypt it in the future. If your secrets need to be protected for more than 10 years, you need to take action now. In this talk, we will explore how sufficiently large quantum computers will catastrophically break all public-key cryptography commonly used today, the overall scope of this threat, and the steps underway to develop and deploy quantum-resistant replacement algorithms and security protocols. We will introduce the code and tools that you can use today to fend off these future advanced threats.

Hardware progress has enabled solutions which were historically computationally intractable. This is particularly true in video analysis. This technological advance has opened a new frontier of problems. Within this expanse, we have chosen the classic problem of depth inference from images. Specifically, given a sequence of images captured over time, we output depth maps corresponding one-to-one with the input sequence. As a spatiotemporal problem, we were motivated to model it with convolutions (spatial) andLSTMs (temporal). These are used in a U-Net encoder-decoder architecture. The results indicate some potential in such an approach, the process by which we came to this conclusion is detailed below

Meanwhile, it’s hard to find enough security analysts to catch and prevent these attacks. This is where community collaboration and open source efforts like Apache Metron come in. Metron presents a comprehensive framework for application and network, security built on Apache Hadoop and open source Streaming Analytics(ie Apache Nifi, Apache Kafka) tool’s highly scalable data management and processing stacks. Advanced features like profiling, machine learning, and visualization work with real-time streaming detection to make your SOC analysts more efficient, while the intrinsic extensibility of open source helps your data scientists get security insights out of the lab and into production fast. We will discuss and demonstrate how some real-world businesses and managed service providers are using Apache Metron to identify and solve security threats at scale, and some approaches and ideas for how the platform can fit into your security architecture. It is widely agreed that there will be devices in the range of billions communicating with each other by the end of this decade. From the alarm system in your house, to your power-meter being part of a smart grid, to the ATM around the corner, every object of your life will soon be connected to the Internet of Things, if not already. This connected world is at the crossroads of various ecosystems that the Eclipse M2M Industry Working Group aims at bridging. On one hand are the IT and telco industries, that already are connecting devices together by means of usually closed software platforms and communication protocols. These industries have an incredible experience at designing solutions tailored to their vertical businesses, but today's challenge is to break down the silos preventing the emergence of the true Internet of Things: every object should virtually be accessible from anywhere. On the other hand, there are many providers of great end-user services that are waiting for platforms allowing them to create their own applications using these services, that they can distribute on their own markets and via social networks. Lastly, the Open Hardware and hobbyists movements are a place where a lot of innovation happens: bleeding edge technologies, passionate developers that can, and will, make Internet of Things not only successful, but also fun. If you want to learn what is cooking at Eclipse in terms of tools and frameworks for M2M development, how we get the aforementioned communities actively involved, and the business models that this Open M2M stack is enabling, then this talk is for you!
