Featured on this page is a pro-
ject I photographed for Firestone
Metal Products, of the recently
completed Amazon Building # 26.
This site sits on the edge of what
some have nicknamed, "Allen-
town,"after
Paul Allen's vision for a new-
century urban center, based on life
science industries.
An innovative, multi-toned,
metal surface wrapping portions of
the building is the clients featured
product. Like a metallic chameleon, its colors and tone changes depending on what light
illuminates it at the moment.
After photographing the Amazon
Building, I took a twilight stroll through
Vulcan Development’s new-urban-center.
It’s captivating how the reflective surfaces
of the buildings interact with one another, producing
rich saturated colors from the setting sun.
In some ways this biotech district, with its
multi-layered textures and modest scale reminds
me of an ultra modern urban landscape found
within Japan’s city of Tokyo. Ultimately, the true
character of this Seattle nascent neighborhood, will
depend on the multi cultural/economic diversity
that will live, work and play within it.

Overlake Hospital in
Bellevue, has been a client for
the past few years and is al-
ways great to work with.
They’ve hired me to take both
dramatic aerial photographs of
its medical center, plus archi-
tectural views which capture
the surrounding urban context
with an iconic Cascade Moun-
tain range in the background.
Earlier this month, Overlake
Hospital opened a new clinic
within the energetic high-rise
district of Bellevue. This time
my assignment included pho-
tographing people interacting
inside the dynamic new lobby clinic.
A'er completing the photo shoot, I explored Bellevue’s grow-
ing high-rise district and found dramatic evening light illuminating in
all directions. Over the
past few years, with re-
finements to digital
camera’s sensors, I’m
finding more delightful
opportunities to photo-
graph at night for my
commercial and fine art
work.
