2. MARKETPLACE SCALING ISSUES TEND TO GET SOLVED BY ESTABLISHING LARGE EXCHANGES
PROBLEM
1
SOLUTION RESULT
Commodities trading can’t
scale when each broker has
to set up individual contracts
and trades with every other
A centralized commodity
exchange means that all
brokerages only have to
deal with one main authority
Dramatic growth in the
global commodities trading
business and an overall
trusted deal environment
Aircraft become faster and
more plentiful, making it
impossible to leave control
solely with onboard pilots
The internationally agreed
system for air traffic control
and the use of English as
the lingua franca of the sky
Continued growth in global
air travel, with no major
incidents ever attributed to
a failure of air traffic control
Numerous banks needed to
transact funds without
negotiating transfer deals
with every other global bank
SWIFT is created to give all
Tier One banks a single
system to which they can
subscribe & exchange funds
More than 11,000 SWIFT
member institutions send
over $5 Trillion in financial
transactions every day
Consumers don’t have a
means to send money
digitally without exposing
their personal information
PayPal provides a trusted
intermediary service where
sellers & buyers can move
funds seamlessly & safely
With the consumer funds
transaction issue solved,
eBay grows rapidly to lead
the online auction category
Under the current schema
by which IoT data is made
available to third parties,
each use-case requires a
manually negotiated deal
Both data providers & users
subscribe to a common AI
platform which standardizes
business, legal & technical
aspects of exchanging
The rapid development &
evolution of an ecosystem
based around data coming
from and going to machines,
systems and people

4. SHRINKING MONTHS TO MILLISECONDS TO MAKE DATA EXCHANGING VIABLE AND SCALABLE
Existing methods for setting up IoT data sharing
are time-consuming, archaic and involve individual
negotiations between providers and users, all
manual one-offs that take months to put into
practice – these are entirely non-scalable
3
Companies and public sector agencies don’t need
custom-negotiated agreements, they need to exchange
data – Terbine was formed to remove friction and
automate the processes that enable machine-generated
data to flow in a controlled and trusted manner
5. MOVING THE PROBLEM SET INTO THE NETWORK, WHERE IT BECOMES MANAGEABLE
Much like the large systems that operate the financial, logistics
and digital media worlds, the Terbine Data Exchange Platform
(TDEP) is the needed “network brain” that will enable rapid
adoption and scaling. It starts by bringing data providers &/or
users under a single legal umbrella aka the bilateral Terms Of
Use
Instead of having to negotiate all terms and conditions of data
conveyance up front and on a case-by-case basis, a
sophisticated and highly adaptable Policy Engine handles the
specific requirements of each data provider vis a vis
how/where/when/to whom their data files or streams can be
routed – this moves the problem into the network and thus
makes it highly efficient, and real time
The Policy Engine can be controlled “on the fly” via both Web
and programmatic interfaces (APIs) to give data providers
unprecedented control over the distribution of their machine-
generated data feeds – and makes monetization practical

As the Terbine platform becomes distributed via 5G edge colocation, the Policy Engine will scale with it,
enabling ad-hoc data trading alliances between various organizations and individual machines based on events
