David formed Recursive in 2012 after 14 years experience
in the fields of Audiovisual and Acoustics. He holds a BSc
(Hons) in Audio and Acoustics and a PGDip in Acoustics.
Professionally he is a Member of the IOA, the IET and is a
Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts.
Richard Smith
Principal Consultant
Richard is an experienced audiovisual consultant with a
history of working with clients and design teams on
projects of various sizes and complexities throughout the
UK, Europe and Middle East. He holds a BSc (Hons) in
Electronics and Mathematics. Professionally he is a
Member of the IET and holds CTS certification.
Chris Hipgrave
Senior Consultant
Chris has many years experience being involved in some
of the worlds leading interactive and software based
solutions for the corporate and events markets. He holds a
BA/BSc in Audio & Creative Music Technology and a MSc.
in Creative Systems.
Paul Marshall
Senior Consultant
Paul has over twenty years dedicated AV, Broadcast and
lighting control experience in all major sectors including
hospitality, commercial, corporate, academic, government
and high end residential. Paul holds Certifcations in Biamp,
ClearOne, Extron, AMX, Crestron and Microsoft Surface
Hub.

Architects) design stages and are well versed in the
required project design approach. Most importantly,

Work Spaces
The modern corporate working environment is
evolving to reflect the changes in the way individuals
work.Remoteworkingandflexiblehoursforstaffhave
allowed some companies to implement hot-desking
and agile working environments, often reducing the
overall desk count and space requirements. Meeting
and huddle spaces have also evolved, flexible rooms
which allow content from laptops or other portable
devices are common, allowing collaborative working,
annotation and sharing of documents and content
through traditional or interactive interface.
Whilst some companies still opt for traditional video
conferencing suites, often there is an need to enable
conferencing through modern desktop conferencing
soft codecs. Wireless connectivity also complements
traditional wired connectivity, particularly if there
is a preference for tablet’s or a need for flexible
presentation positions. Larger meeting rooms and
event spaces require careful consideration so that
the systems deployed can be tailored to the clients
specific needs today and infrastructure provided to
allow future flexibility should those needs change.

6. Recursive have recently featured in the Tech
Expose Magazine for the works designed,
developed and installed at the prestigious Sun
& Sand Sports flagship store in the Dubai Mall.
The team have pushed boundaries in delivering
state-of-the-art digital innovation to bring a
unique customer/shopper experience which
begins when first entering the store.
Rich content media screens feature information
points and the store catalogue. Customers can
peruse online, select and try before they buy and
connect to social media channels. The Recursive
team developed bespoke hardware and software
solutions in order to create physical trial zones
based around running, football and basketball,
along side an automated gait analysis process
to analyse the stance, gait and running pattern
to each individual customer.

have used the same approach learnt from
the corporate and entertainment sectors and
adapted this to the demanding customer facing
environment where each and every customer

specifying everything from the data cabling,
the power and data outlets, the floor boxes,
patchbays, rack layouts, servers, cooling
requirements for the kit all the way through
to the design and specification of the audio
systems, loudspeaker placement, design and
arrangement of screens, software integration

media strategy to ensure the robust results
required.

The deployment of Digital Media can be key for businesses
that want to attract, communicate and engage with their
customers and clients leaving an clear statement around their
brand, culture, ideas and identify.
Recursive have been engaged to provide cutting edge digital
communication technology in a number of corporate offices, venues
and retail environments, which include Harrods, London (image right,
Harrods Escalator) and The Dubai Mall, Grand Drive, Fashion Catwalk
Atrium, Aquarium and Ice Rink.
Within each project the Recursive team have designed an unique experience
configured to the specific business requirements using technologies such as
LED banners and tickers, large scale visual merchandising screens, ultra high
definition (UHD) video walls, interactive experiences and immersive audio and
soundscaping.
An important part of these systems are the behind the scenes media production
facilities where new content can be created and re-purposed, scheduled and deployed.
Recursive firmly believe that the additional work flow should fit within the all ready
established methods being used in house to ensure media can be easily deployed by
fitting into existing CMS or content creation packages, often designing bespoke software
plug-ins to make the new systems as transparent as possible to the media or web team who
will drive it.
