The document summarizes the MeteorTM-MBBR wastewater treatment system. It uses moving bed biofilm reactors to biologically treat wastewater with a compact footprint. Microorganisms grow as biofilm on media in the reactors. There are at least two treatment zones to remove carbon and nitrogen. Effluent is then sent to high-speed flotation or filtration for separation. The system offers flexible and efficient treatment to meet various standards with modular components and media tailored for each application. It has been used successfully in several municipal wastewater treatment projects worldwide.

4. OPERATING PRINCIPLE (1/3)
Meteor™-MBBR combines a biological solution AND a compact
separation system (flotation or filtration depending on the cases,
see the following pages).
The carbon and nitrogen treatments are provided by a fixed culture on
mobile biofilm media.
Depending on the required quality of the effluent, the number of zones
used will be adapted differently: there will thus be at least 2 zones and
up to 5 zones.
TO
SEPARATOR
Unlike the Meteor™-IFAS, biofilm media is
integrated into each zone of the basin and
equipped with retention screens.

5. OPERATING PRINCIPLE (2/3)
Two types of configurations are proposed: they are a function of the level
of suspended solids leaving the MBBR.

Meteor™-MBBR ADVANTAGES
Meteor™
MBBR FLEXIBLE USE:
• Works continuously and does not require any washing of the
materials,
• Modular and upgradable equipment that can be adapted to all plant
sizes and all treatment objectives (pre-denitrification, treatment of
carbon, nitrification, post-denitrification),
• Allows for substantial load variations, so its use is perfectly suited
to tourist areas,
• Adapted to the treatment of low-temperature effluents.
PERFORMANCE & ENVIRONMENT:
• Optimal compactness (of the biological unit and the separator),
• Allows for targeted treatment and therefore optimizes nutrients
(nitrogen, carbon),
• Includes reactors that reproduce natural purification,
• Meets the strictest discharge standards.
